It is about 150 m after the entrance gate of the castle door. I came here for a cup of coffee and some fresh orange juice.
We were a group of 38 people and we were all very satisfied with not only the cuisine of this restaurant, but the nice service as well. I had (yiouvetsi and kokoras)! It is a dish with pastry so small that looks like barley, cooked in the oven with red tomato sauce and pieces of meat from a cock. The meat is local so it was really tasty.Try the Greek salad, which is a mixture of tomatos, cucumber, onions, green peppers, black olives and feta cheese, origan and salt. All these when mixed together and you pour virgin olive oil they create a nice juice and try putting a small piece of bread in this sauce and eat it.....You will forget about a fork or knife here. Use your hand to do this!! It will be so tasty, believe me.(I also add some vinegar)!
It is centrally located, called "The Greek" and we went at the inside garden of the restaurant where there were 38 other people, all friends, who were all satisfied with everything they had eaten, but me.It is because I always want to taste local food. I had seen the blossoms of courgettes which I like and without asking what is all about, I ordered a dish of this.I thought it was courgettes stuffed with rice and mint but this dish was so different from anything. It was full of potatos, and some blossoms of courgettes but it was so bitter and ugly I could not eat it. So, when here, don't be attracted by the yellow freshly blossoms of courgettes and order this dish. You will regret it.You can order here pork in the oven, or yiouvetsi with meat. It is great believe me. Luckily I left mine behind and I had to order a Yiouvetsi instead.Helpful staff, and nice surroundings.The impressive bust...
Very fresh seafood, nice scenery, and people who know well their work. We had grilled sprat fish (sardella) squid, and (gavro)fish.We also ordered a varriety of seafood here for our ouzo called -pikilia.Everything was tasty and fresh.I highly recommend it.
Although we received a warm welcome from the prorietor (who I think was Vangelis who had returned from America to retire) the only choice of food was grilled stuff, even though alsorts was advertised. Small, expensive pork chops and good, reasonably priced local wine.We watched them collecting rain water in water butts one night it poured down.Despite the mediocre food, we enjoyed meeting and talking to Vangelis. The olives we had here were very good!!!
The last, on the beach road, restaurant in Porto Cayo's quiet gulf. Just beside the sea. You will enter the restaurant, you will choose the fish you want, they will clean it up in front of your eyes, using salt water and they will grill it, using perfect extra-virgin olive oil.Antony (the chef) knows very well the art of grilling a fresh fish and he will serve it accompanied with a sause of lemon and oil.I have not eaten a better grilled fish, anywhere in Greece, and I have eaten enough.Don't forget to ask before the main dish, for a "gavro toursi" a delicacy of this tavern, which is small fish, cooked in viniger and olive oil!Even if you do not like fish much, taste his grilled fresh fish and you will start liking it! :)But even if you insist on not taking fish, you will enjoy the view, the quiet beach and the whole climate in this beautiful place!
Traditional ouzeri in Githio's port with perfect view of the town. "Roasted octapus": The best I've ever eaten in Greece. And I have eaten in many places!!!!"Kolokithokeftedes": (zucchini balls) for people who appreciate good food."Fresh little squids" A dish that rarely can be found but if you don't find it here, you will not find it anywhere else.
