Hidden places for ideal camping

Hidden places for ideal camping, Chrysi Island

Aggeliki Says:  Actually this is a perfect place for camping, where you can find small isolated beaches. Be careful to scorpions, which must live behind the old cedar woods.

an inhabited island

Aggeliki Says:  Chrisi island , or gold island or "donkey's island, ( because only donkey can walk the island) is inhabited. In summer there is only a small taverna (traditional simple restaurant.) It is connected with the city of Ierapetra, by small boats and you can reach this in 30...

A small paradise

A small paradise, Chrysi Island

Aggeliki Says:  The cedar forest in the sand is unique in Greece. The water is hot and clear. These makes the island a small paradise. The island has already been declared a National Park.

Aggeliki Says:  The island is covered by white sand, so the only trees are cedars trees. The water of the sea has created wonderful sculptures on the cedar wood.

There is only one "restaurant", it is located where the boats leave you. The prices are rather high, it is better to have something with you, as water, especially if you want to discover the island. Otherwise, your primeval instincts will be born again... Will you be a (head) hunter?

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Dont forget water on plastic bottles when you go to this wonderful place. You are in heaven here, but it will be hell, if you dont bring water with you. They sell it there, but much more expensive of course. You need to drink lots of water when you are in the sunshine all day or in the water.

Agios (Saint) Nikolaos

Agios (Saint) Nikolaos, Chrysi Island

AndyRG Says:  This small church is situated at the NW of Chrysi, where you can also see a lighthouse. After a (tiring) hike, it would be pleasant to go inside and pray to your own God... Agios Nikolaos (St. Nickolas) is the patron saint of sailors.

Pelegrina

Pelegrina, Chrysi Island

AndyRG Says:  It is the name of that beach, which brings to the mind images of the Carribean... Pelegrina is located at the northern part of the island, the colours of the sea are in tones of blue and green - and so clean!

Caves

Caves, Chrysi Island

AndyRG Says:  There are many places which are... "one person's secrets", they can be discovered only on foot... Mine is near that small cave you see at the picture, at an ideal location, as it can not be seen -from any direction- and you can stay there with safety (but I won't tell you...

Cedars

Cedars, Chrysi Island

AndyRG Says:  The 1/3 of the island is full of these rare trees, the cedars of Lebanon. During the high touristic season (July-August), you can see enough tents which flirt with the shadows of these trees... Officially, camping and staying overnight are forbidden, but... just officialy!

Souvenirs?

Souvenirs?, Chrysi Island

AndyRG Says:  These white conches can be seen in many different places of the island, even at the centre of it! They are protected, as their age can't be easily count, and too heavy (like stones). Of course, there isn't anybody to control you if you want to have such a souvenir, only your...

The first impression

The first impression, Chrysi Island

AndyRG Says:  This nice sand-beach is next to the "port" of Chrysi. As being the first impression about it, it makes you dream for whatever you are going to see...
