Golden (chrissi) island or donkey's island..
Thats a one day trip with a 'Fun boat' to a splendid white sand uninhabited island.
U could leave 10:30 or 12:30 from Ierapetra's harbour & come back 17:00 or 18:00, the trip with the boat is great & the island is fantastic.
Our Greek friends told us that even lady D & prince Charles came here (by helicopter though:)
The legend goes that Crete habitants used to refugiate & hide there from pirates..apparently many pirates boats sunk in this area.

On the north side, thats a golden beach with plenty of shells where during windy days u could enjoy playing in the waves while on the other side thats a peaceful golf where u could go for snorkelling...The variety of fish & rocks is amazing, I promise a special travelogue coming soon only on this:)

On our way to Agios Nikolaus, in front of Vassiliki village, theres Ha gorge. The lower end of the gorge is not yet open widely. Our friends told us that less than 10 people dared to climb it ..
