Favorite thing: The first photo shows the view towards the east. If you enlarge, you will sea in the background, on the left the island of Meganisi and on the right the North of the island of Ithaki, known as the home of Ulysses.
The second photo was shot in almost the same direction but with wide angle lens. The south of Lefkas shows in the left, Meganisis in the center and Ithaki on the right.
The third photo shows only the northern head of Ithaki..

Favorite thing: Around the lighthouse, a flat space has been arranged and limited by white walls which makes a very pleasant viewing plarform.
The two photos on this tip show the west coast of the island, towards the North. The southern part of the coast is made of cliffs with a few narrow beaches (Egremni Beach and Porto Katsiki).
The legend says that the great poetess of ancient Greece, Sapho, committed suicide in this lace by jumping from the top of the cliff.

Favorite thing: At last, we arrive close to the lighthouse. In 2002, there was a small parking that could hold a dozen cars. Two campers seemed ready to spend the night here. This is really a great place for a night! From the parking, you have to walk for a hundred meters on a stony path.
Cape Doukato is also named cape Lefkata or Kavos tis Kiras

Favorite thing: A narrow ?window? in the rock allows to have a great view on the cliffs, with the sea breaking on the rocks. Though the weather is fine, there is a strong wind blowing in your face and you must pay attention not to fall down. The lighthouse is still several kilometers away (enlarge the photo)

Favorite thing: The peninsula becomes narrower and narrower. The road remains now on the eastern side as the western side is a cliff. A little further, it is possible to park on the side of the road and have a peak into the cliffs and the lighthouse.

Favorite thing: Lefkas, Cape Doukato in the background, southwards view
After a while, when getting closer to the cape, the road passes again on the western side and at last offers a view on our goal, the cape with its lighthouse. You need to enlarge the picture to view the lighthouse in the background.

Favorite thing: When driving from Lefkas, after Khort?ta, you can choose between the direction to Vasiliki, on the left or to Kamilo, Athani, Egremni Beach, Porto Katsiki beach and the cape. The first time I drove to the cape, the 25km or so were entirely a dirt road. Each time I came back, the tarred road went a little further. Last time (2002), there remained only 2-3 kilometers of dirt road.

Favorite thing: The port of Vasiliki has only small fishing boats and the catch is either for own use of the fishermen, or for one of the restaurants. There is no commercial fishing and most of the time, the catch is poor.

Favorite thing: When you drive from Lefkas to Tsoukaladhes, Aghios Nikitas, Kalamitsi, Khort?ta, Aghios Petros, you will suddenly discover the wide bay of Vasliki (Ormos Vasilikis). Besides the city itself, houses are scattered on the slopes and shaded by olive trees.
