This was a brilliant set of furniture at the terrapin pond. Made entirely from recycled and natural wood. Such a wonderful idea I thought it worthy of a mention and photos! I am not sure how comfortable or useable it was but it didn't look out of place. Makes you wonder whether it was made by some enterprising, practical individual or made to order by the local council.

A Collection of Greek Signs!
by nickandchris
Here are a few strange signs we came across on the island! We find some of the signs in Greece rather intriguing, to say the least, if not completely fanciful. The first one we came to realise is quite common on Lesvos, a speed limit for tanks and army vehicles. The second we called "No dacschund swimming."The third I thought read, "Old Artist's Hosiery For Sale." I actually think the place was called Old Artisan and sold Hosiery. Still, it was a strange place to see the sign, on a country road.

walking from Mytilene to Agiassos
by paragianna75
There is a custom every 14 August evening people are walking from all parts of the island and they are going to Agiassos by foot, covering sometimes a lot of kms, to honour in that way the Virgin and to celebrate Her day on 15 August in the famous church of Agiassos.I have done that once a lot of years ago and it was so great to see sooo many people doing the same, holding lights in their hands - because of the darkness - singing and telling stories about the miracles that have happened in that church while walking. It is quite exhausted but the scene when you finally arrive in the vilage and the feeling is indescribable.
