Oros Pilion Transportation

We pre-booked our Hyundai Atos in England through Pangosmio Car hire. It was the first time we had booked over the internet and also with a Greek company. They were brilliant and much cheaper than Hertz etc. We had to change arrangements so many times we fully expected problems to arise but no. The car arrived on time, friendly service and they even forgot the delivery charge until we owned up!! When we returned the car, we asked for an extra hour which we were granted at no extra cost. We returned the car to Auto Union (the agent) at Volos Airport and there was no inspection or anything official. A thoroughly excellent experience.

We were supposed to fly to Volos Airport via Skiathos with Kosmar holidays but 2 days prior to departure were informed there was no plane to Volos so would have to land at Skiathos and catch a charter boat to Platanias in the south of Pilion.
We flew Excel Airways who were no better or worse than any of the other charters but there did appear to be more leg room. Outbound we were on a 757 and inbound a 737.

42 of us were transferred from Skiathos port to Platanias (Pilion) by charter boat, hurriedly arranged by the Kosmar rep.
It was about a 45min crossing in the early evening and was a pleasant way to arrive in Pilion. From Platanias we were bussed to our resorts.

You can arrive in the south of the Pilion peninsula, Ay. Kiriaki, by hydrofoil from Volos. They sometimes call at the island of Paleo Trikeri which is just off the northen coast of the southen tip of Pilion.
