Skiathos Tourist Traps

We found there to be a lot of wasps and mosquitos on the Island. The daughter of a friend that we were on holiday with did have the misfortune of being stung by a wasp while we were all sitting around the pool at our apartments and I came home covered in mosquito bites.

Unique Suggestions: If you get stung by a wasp remove the sting using tweezers to prise it out or scrape it off with your fingernail. Do not attempt to press out the sting as this will only help the poison to spread under the skin. Wash the sting (bite) with soap and water then cool off the skin with ice cubes or an ice pack that has been wrapped in a cloth or thin towel. If needed apply some pain killing cream, gel or antihistamine cream to sooth the itch. If you get bitten by a mosquito there are plenty of mosquito sprays creams you can buy, but would be best to come prepared and have all the neccessary repellents creams etc on your packing list.

Fun Alternatives: Try to avoid getting stung by wasps or bees. If surrounded by them move out the way slowly. Do not try to wave the insect away as any violent movement will only excite them and make them more aggressive and likely to attack.

There are lots of different suggestions on how to avoid mosquito bites. Here are a couple of recommended ones.

1. Apply Avon woodland fresh dry oil body spray (does work) forgot to pack mine last year
2. Taking vitamin B1 (Thiamine) at least 2 weeks before and during your holiday.
3. There is a spray called "OFF" but contains Deet which some people avoid using?

If of course you do have an allergic reaction to a sting or bite you should get yourself to a hospital straight away
