Nea Anchialos Airport is the first civil airport of Thessaly. Its operation began in 1991.Located 18 km away from the city of Nea Anchialos and 36 km from Volos and is easily accessible from the motorway E75.
The airport has served previously on the route of Volos - Athens operated by Olympic Airlines and charter flights from many parts of Europe. The completion of the new terminal 9.000 m² in September 2010, gave impetus to the further development of the airport and now Volos has one of the most modern regional airports in Greece.
There are buses outside the airport terminal for each fligh destinationg to Volos. Passengers for Nea Anchialos will inform the driver to drop them off at Nea Anchialos.

Scheduled Flights in Operation
Air Berlin connects Volos with Nuremberg - Berlin - Dusseldorf and Vienna.
Ryanair operates flights from Nea Anchialos Airport (VOL) from/to Frankfurt Hahn (Frankfurt-Hahn) - Milan (Bergamo) - Rome and Brussels.
Austrian Airlines - Lauda Air begin scheduled flights from mid May 2011 to Vienna

The location of Nea Anchialos is in Central Greece and in a short distance from Athens and Thessaloniki makes it easy and convenient access for visitors.
From the E75 highway from Athens or Thessaloniki, turn right at the exit "MIKROTHIVES. Pass Mikrothives and 5 km you reach the New Anchialos.
