Katerini Favorites

Favorite thing: "Paralia" means beach in greek. Therefore Paralia Katerini means the beach of Katerini. So Katerini is the city and Paralia is the holiday resort. Got that? :)

While in Paralia Katerini you should visit also the city of Katerini. It is also pretty interesting, nice to walk in.

Favorite thing: From that tiny strip of sand beach in front of the hotel I stayed in Paralia Katerini there was this path of stones that take you almost 50 meters inside the sea. Probably this is a great place in the summer, for tanning and then go for a swim. In December, this was only a great fun to walk so far.

Favorite thing: If you get up earyl in the morning you can see the fishermen preparing and going to the open sea to lay the net for cathing fish. After a few hours, they collect the net full of fish and come to shore with tons of live fish.

Favorite thing: That's what I was talking about. From the balcony the sea is just a few meters from you. When you stay in bed you don't see the beach (as it is very narrow - only 3-4 meters) but only the Egean Sea. You can hardly find a hotel, at this price, with such a lovely view.

Favorite thing: Those lovely violet trees you can see all over Greece ... I dont know the name of it ...maybe some of you know LOL Let me know if you do :)

Fondest memory: LOL My dear freind Yiannis is must see in Katerini...and also foundest memory :))

Favorite thing: Katerini is charming town , one hour away of Thessaloniki .
It looks like peaceful place :)

Fondest memory: This fountain is at the begining ( or at the end LOL ) of the pedastrian area , full of lovely shops and cafes. Right behind it there is one caffee where I had some strange thing LOL , but more about it in my restaurants tip ...

Favorite thing: The Egean Sea viewed from Paralia Katerini is wonderful. You can wake up in the morning, exit to the balcony, and two meters below you is the a small rope of beach and then the vast sea. The sound of the sea coming to your room and the view is just relaxing.

Fondest memory: The sea is one of my fondest memory of Paralia Katerini.

Favorite thing: ... are the two seaside resorts near Katerini. They are NOT recommended for bathing, one should rather travel some 10-15 kms further south to find better beaches and clear seas.
But for diniing, coffee or clubbing Paralia and Katerinoskala (as we call Olympic beach) have lots to offer.

Favorite thing: The climate of Greece is mediteranean therefore the vegetation is richer than in my homecountry.

Fondest memory: It was my first time that I ever see palm trees elsewhere than in a zoo or botanical garden.
