    KTEL buses are a very good means of transport. They're inexpensive, quite clean, although not very modern. You can communicate with the staff in basic English.

    Take a KTEL bus from (or to) Thessaloniki. It's not expensive, air conditioned and clean.

    I had some problems with talking to the person who sells tickets as his English was as poor as my Greek but somehow I managed to buy those tickets :)
