Kastro 1380: Fantastic view and good food

by Lomma Written Jul 21, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

After many years in Parga - we finally entered this Restaurant. Known more for its view than the food. However, this year - we knew that our friends from many years further down the road, selling bags, had taken over the place and we wanted to pay them a visit.
Finally the place has become the restaurant it should be. Aleca and Petros have turned it into the place it deserves to be - right underneith the castle of Parga. Fantastic view and good food. A variaty of dishes - from local to international, kids meny and a fairly good selection of wine. Again - you always get what you pay for in this respect.
Aleca is the perfect hostess and they have lovely, friendly waiters.

Book a table to be sure to be seated in the front hanging more or less over Parga.

Favorite Dish: We tried the the Castro specials stuffed chicken and Pork and this was very good.
We enjoyed wine - from €25 and up and it is worth it to a good dish.
The kids menu was enjoyed by our youngest "Nose of pinochico", so you will always find something there.

Dionysos: A good place to watch the world go by

by Juliemo Written Sep 29, 2009

We went here twice, the first time was in the evening and the second at lunch time. The evening was lovely and if you get there early enough you can sit upstairs and watch the passers by in between courses. Also looks over the harbour. Good food, very generous portions and not too expensive.

Favorite Dish: Greek salad, it was huge!

Lichnos panorama restaurant: Worth it for the view

by Juliemo Written Sep 29, 2009

The menu was limited and there was definitely nothing wrong with the food, but we didn't feel that it was as good as many of the others we had been to. However, the view from the restaurant is fantastic, it is at the top of the cliff and looks out over the sea. Worth a visit just for this, it really is amazing, especially when the sun is setting.

Favorite Dish: I had stuffed beef burgers which were nice but not overly exciting.

Yiannis: Had two wonderful meals here

by Juliemo Written Sep 29, 2009

A very busy place, always seemed to be packed when we passed by. Good friendly service and they appreciated it when I tried to order in Greek (I think!). Food was very good and very reasonablly priced.

Favorite Dish: I had pasta the first time and moussaka the second and both were lovely.

Kryoneri: Good prices, good food and friendly service

by Juliemo Written Sep 29, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is typical Greek food but it was very good and cheap, the best price of all the meals we ate during the two weeks we were there. It was fairly quiet but I don't really know why because people were missing out on a treat. It was definitely at the top of our list of favourites.

Favorite Dish: Skordalia, I absolutely love the potato with garlic.

    Rudis: Fantastic food, fantastic view!

by Juliemo Updated Sep 29, 2009

This was almost the most expensive restaurant we ate at but worth every penny. A beautiful place and we had a really good table overlooking the harbour. It was a treat but I'm glad that we tried it and would recommend it.

Favorite Dish: I had mushroom risotto and it was absolutely beautiful.

Kastro Restaurant: Great view - shame about the service!

    by Only__Me Updated Jun 1, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Great views but awful service. We tried several different tables but at no point were we approached by a waiter. When I went to the bar to get the drinks myself they were most insistent that I return to the table and they would bring the drinks to us. I declined the offer and carried my own drinks, needless to say they didn’t get a tip. Drinks were expensive, over 10 euros for half a litre of lager and a shot of baileys over ice.

Favorite Dish: Didn’t eat there so cannot comment on the standard of the food, or prices.

    Taverna Sakis: Cheap and cheerful

    by Only__Me Updated Jun 1, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Very small taverna that advertises great views, however I suspect this was when they used to use the roof terrace which wasn’t in use when we were there despite them being very busy. Tables and chairs literally in the street. We had to wait, with free ouzo, for a table, for average but cheap food.

Tzima-z: Even the Greeks eat here!

    by cps1954 Updated May 23, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Restaurant Tzima-z is an excellent restaurant for those looking for authentic Greek cuisine. Mrs. Tzima takes care of the cooking, while Mr. Tzimaz makes sure that the guests are made at home. He is a bit quiet, not a man of many words, but once he starts to speak it becomes obvious that his command of English is much better than you might have given him credit for.
Mrs. Tzima's dishes are fantastic. She manages to make your meal typically Greek, as authentic as any Greek would like to see it, and at the same time mouth wateringly delicious.
My wife and I dined there no less than five times during our two week stay in 2008!
This is also one of the few restaurants which remain open during the winter season (when most others have closed down) catering for the local Greek villagers. It goes without saying that if the Greeks eat there, it is certainly worth a visit.

    Favorite Dish: Briami.
This is a well known Greek vegetable dish prepared in the oven, but Mrs. Tzima's version is absolutely delicious.

Johnny's Place: Just enough time for Cake

by sandysmith Updated Feb 21, 2009

Literally 2 minutes from our apartment and opposite the main church in Parga was this bar Jonny's Place. The staff always waved and said hello as we passed by on our way down to the harbour and its a shame really we only got to go in on our last night for coffee and cake as a final desert in Parga. We had popped in the day we took a boat trip to buy some pastries and they also included free biscuits to munch on.

They also had a big sign up for big pints of beer for just 2 euro. - that was popular!

Favorite Dish: any cake will do me :-)..but you can see my choice in the pic.
Cake and coffee for 2 was 7 euros - and big portions too!

    Zorbas: Zorbas

Just next door to Bacchus was Zorbas restaurant - heard rave reviews of it and staff were always friendly and polite as we passed so we thought we'd give it a go at least one night. It was good no complaints ..but really Bacchus is my preference.

Favorite Dish: Sausage pies and courgette balls for starters, followed by Kleftiko and Lamb Zorbas Free cake and ouzo. With wine and water was only 26 euros so a good price.

The Tango Club is a great place for lunch is spending a day at Valtos beach - everything from Greek food to pita wraps and pizzas. Reasonable prices. Large area to sit in and there is even a pool you can use here too if you don't want to go in the sea.

Favorite Dish: we just had club sandwich and frappé - no complaints and pleasant surroundings overlooking the beach.

    Perivoli: Mega Mezes

by sandysmith Updated Feb 21, 2009

    Taverna Perivoli
    4 more images

We didn't see too many restaurants in Parga advertising Mezes - and this is the type of food I like to eat in Greece, sampling a bit of everything. Well we spotted this lovely taverna on the road to Lichnos - before the olive grove was reached - and lo and behold Greek mezes were their speciality so we ear marked this place for when we were really hungry ..and yes make sure you are really hungry! if you come here.

A lovely rural setting and more peaceful than the harbour side more touristic restaurants - although we enjoyed some good meals there too.

Favorite Dish: The Mezes of course to share! - this comes in two courses:
cold platter of the usual Greek starters with salad accompaniments 0- truthfully this alone would have been enough - see the pic!
followed by a platter of grilled meats with chips - chicken, pork, steak etc...meatballs were really spicy, about the only thing I didn't like.
All this for only 20 euros - each platter is 10 euros for 2 people, amazing value.

We also came back for lunch one day when we were having a lazy day and really enjoyed the mousaka - almost like a pie it was that deep, home-baked and really tasty too. At just under 5 euros for this dish portion wise it was much more than I expected and really could have been enough for an evening meal with a starter.

  • The 5 Senses Restaurant: A real find!

by Treasuretrove Written Nov 9, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We have been holidaying in Parga for the past six years and have enjoyed every minute. Yes, we are creatures of habit! Three years ago we stayed close to the Hotel Alfa, which opened a new restaurant, ‘The 5 Senses’. The appearance of the restaurant is not your usual Greek style Taverna – don’t let this deter you or you will miss a treat! The welcome and service are second to none, and that’s just for starters. The menu is extensive and each day there is a ‘Specials Board’ with a set menu for around €11 - €13 for 3 courses, so there is something to suit all tastes. The attention to detail and décor make this a truly unforgettable dining experience. We have eaten in restaurants all over the world and we have no hesitation in recommending ‘The 5 Senses’. The chef, Nikolaos Venetis, is up there with the very best and has trained in England and Italy. The proprietor, Dimitri, ensures you want for nothing. On our last visit to Parga we enjoyed the ambience and food so much that we couldn’t eat anywhere else.

Favorite Dish: The seafood is really exceptional, always fresh and some unusual new fish to try.
