We used to have a drink here on the way out of a night and on the way back, as it is situated on the promenade, close to Macdonalds of all places.
If I remember, they have 'live' music in the form of a DJ but he only seemed to be playing CDs. Anyway the music was good. The bar seems to have been recently refurbished, as it was decked out to the nines. Its a popular place and was always busy. There is seating inside and outside under cover next to the promenade walkway. The place is like a tardis and the interior is very spacious, which you wouldn't think from the outside. There is a selection of cocktails available, of which I advise to try the White Russian.
I nice touch was that with every drink served, the waiter provided a tray of nuts with celery, carrots and an accompanying dip to nibble on. This is just the ticket when you get the munchies long into the night after your meal.
Soft, comfy seating makes this venue a really relaxing affair and I really enjoyed coming here, kicking back, enjoying the cocktails and listening to the music. The owner or manager looks really smooth in a crisp white linen suit and, along with the rest of the staff, give you a really warm welcome when you arrive.
Met an old drunk Norwegian guy in here but the waiters chucked him out for apparently harrassing guests. I thought he was well funny though.

Dress Code: None that I could see. Everyone seems to dress up a bit though so probably best not to saunter in in your flip flops & bum bag.

It is build inside a cave and offers endless view of the Fortezza castle. You should choose one of the tables that are situated at its veranda. The DJ plays Greek, reggae and rock music and sometimes Greek groups make lives at its place.

One of the most famous and historical meeting points and bars in the city of Rethymno. Located in the old town builded with a sence of taste and respect for the old town´s enviroment Figaro is alway there for to offer music, fun, and art items. The best coffe during day time. The best music bar....ever during the night. And allways nice and happy people to around. It guarantees that you will get a nice time visiting it with your company, and an interesting experience if you go by yourselfe for a drink.......

Hey, dont forget to check out if theres any event going on in Figaro. It usually hosts excibitions of foto or drowings and sometimes Figaro organizes very interetsing live music events.

Cafe Cul De Sac: Unwind After Your Meal And Watch The World Go By

Big cocktails

We loved to come here after our meal in the evening. The bar offers a wide range of cocktails and waiter/ waitress service is provided with a warm welcome. It seems to have been recently refurbished, which seems to be to everybody's pleasing, as the place was always busy, which made for a good atmosphere. A live DJ also added to the evenings.
Cafe Cul De Sac is situated next door but one to the Rimondi fountain, in the centre of the old town and is great for people watching, if you like that sort of thing, as the streets at night are packed with people strolling past. The majority of the seating is situated outside at the front of the bar, and is covered by loose sheeting, which makes for an airy, breezy feel. Would definitely recommend this place, its right in the centre, so its not out your way. The waiter looks like Mick McCarthy the ex- Sunderland manager.

Dress Code: None that I could see.

Rock Cafe: Accessible Nightclub

The majority of Rethymno's nightclubs move out of the main town in the Summer time and require a taxi ride to visit. Apparently they start after midnight. We tried on a couple of occasions to go but each time when it got to midnight we just couldn't be bothered with the hassle and stayed in town. Hence for those like us, the Rock Cafe was a frequent choice. Its very small but has a good atmosphere, which is due to the friendly staff and a live DJ, and is generally always busy. There is a mix of tourists and locals with possibly slightly more tourists than locals.
I would basically call this a bar with a dance floor and live DJ though. However, as stated, we went here on numerous occasions and had a lot of fun. They also do offers of free t-shirts and caps etc. for drinking say 5-6 beers and gave out tokens, which were stamped every time you purchased a beer. We cleared up on that one! I always think its a good idea to aim for something when you drink?
Its open till about 4:00 and a couple of times we stayed till the bitter end. Beers are only about 2 euros from memory so you don't need too much cash to have a good night. Clientele generally early twenties.

Dress Code: No dress code that I could see.

Punch Bowl Bar: Pub Life

This little gem really was a surprise as it is just like a traditional Irish pub, so unlike some of the "Irish theme bars" we have come across. The interior is decorated with a vast array of interesting items from an age gone by and the drinks list is extensive including great Guinness and Irish Coffee. The Landlady(who is Irish) has great knowledge of the area which we found invaluable and we are happy to recommend this bar to our fellow travellers.

Dress Code: No special dress requirements.

This is deffinatelly the place to be for the trendy youngsters of Rethymno. It´s a very nice bar on the sea boulevard where you can have amazing drinks in an amazing decor. The music is also very good (some lounge and soul) and it´s also a nice spot to watch people!

Big space, with swimming pool. In the daytime open as a bar by the beach or the swimming pool, in the night turns to a club. Commercial dance and mainly Greek music. (Daily, from June to end of September, 23.30-05.00).

I think it´s nicer to go there during the day then at night!
