Check always the prices of the items when you are ordering and check the bill.
Bills are often written with Greek alphabets so you have to check with numbers.
Be careful especially in fish restaurants in the old harbour: I had additional 50 euros in my bill!

YES, Rethymno has its McDonalds!!! Not only McD is right on Venizeolou (along the beach) street, but it has that ugly choo-choo-train (with McD logo on it) that drives FAT american tourists up and down the street.
Ugh......., how could anybody (ANYBODY!!!!!) think about getting sloppy chopped cow, from God knows where, covered with cheese-like-nuclear-waste slice of goo???? And how could anybody think of eating it ON CRETE??????
So please, be aware while walking Venizeolou street, make sure you wear very, very dark sunglasses and you keep a plastic bag handy just on case you wan to ......blaaaaaah...

"lua2" just told me, McDonald is open anly during the summer. I guess it is a great news for all of you who are traveling to Rethymno during winter! You have nothing to worry about ;-)
