    Inside the tower...

Favorite thing: There are three floors inside the White Tower, their shape is circular. You can see in a few minutes some such byzantine icons. Thessaloniki is the richest city of Greece in byzantine temples, Agios Dimitrios is the most famous one.
It is the place where this patron saint of the city -a 20 years old officer of the roman army- lived, martyred and died, in 305. The church was first built in 313.

Favorite thing: WHITE TOWER (museum) which was constructed in the 15th century and used to serve as a prison, a defensive bulwark and a place of execution.
This tower is the city's most famous landmark.

    The symbol of the city

Favorite thing: This tower is the symbol of the city. It was built in 1430 and it is located next to the sea, at a central point. Today it houses the Museum of History and Arts of Thessaloniki.
