At zeuksidos street is a pedestrian road in the heart of the city center. You can find there 3 bars and two restaurants. "Pasta flora darling" with a very interesting decoration and happy fresh locals. "Urban" previously an art gallery now bar with great music. "Spirto" bar is right opposite. Italian restaurant "Vivere" (retzika broz!try the pink salad with hamon and dried tomatoes) and "mama's cooking" Greek style food.

Plateia Aristotelou is sometimes used for free open air concerts by local artists. There was a series of bands playing when I was there at the end of June and its a good way to get an idea of what modern Greek rock and pop music sounds like. Indeed, since Thessaloniki is such a hip place, it feels a bit like a concert, as plenty of people will crowd the end of the plaza and there are usually people passing out free samples of drinks (you will never go thirsty in Thessaloniki thanks to the marketing teams of Pepsi and Coca-Cola). The acts are pretty good and the names of the performers are usually displayed on the backdrop of the stage (in case you want to get their music later on).
Dress Code: Just be clothed.

I hesitate where to write Taverna is the way of living for greek people
and I think they deserve to be the champion in the "nightlife"
Taverna is a mixture of restaurant, bar, live music sometimes concert and if you want to join
there is also dansing .
You start to eat with mezedes ( meze in Turkish) this are small dishes some sort of apetizers which can help to enjoy your Ouzo oltr Tsipouro.Yoghourt based food plays important role.
Eggplant is also important factor .After mezedes you can continue with meat or fish
Music increases the flow of your blood in your body and after some point you are on the scene doing your "Sirtaki" The tavernas are located in the city center near the Agora.
I love those guys )))))
not: The tavernas are located in the city center near the Agora.
Dress Code: not important

I went here the other night for drinks, and I was impressed. I'd really like to go back there for dinner, because I just get the feeling that the food would be good. Symphonies' entrance is just off the corner, and you take the elevator up to the 5th floor where you have the main restaurant area. The next floor up is less eating area (although there are certainly tables, and you can order food up there) and more lounge. The bar is up there, and it is a round room due to its position on the corner of the building. It's neat.
The decor inside features a lot brown wood, and the lighting is just right. The music is played by a DJ, and he played good tunes. Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chemical Brothers, and other pop and 80's...props to a good job of mixing it up AND playing the music at a level that was not deafening. The top floor is also where you can sit outside during warm weather and have a view down to the street.
Dress Code: Again...I was underdressed as usual, but most places aren't that pretentious about it, and as always I did not have a problem going in with my jeans, Merrell Mocs, and tshirt AND non leather jacket.

The Bar is a nice, groovy, laid back bar/cafe. It has somber lighting inside, and there is outside seating with heaters when necessary. They played good music, and the place was filled by 10pm. I was impressed when I asked for a gin&tonic and the girl asked me if I had a particular gin I wanted. They have Tanqueray at least, although they serve it with lemon instead of lime just like everywhere else I have been. (Truly irritating.)
Dress Code: Like most other places in Greece, the people are dressed to impress for the most part. But, there were other people there like myself, who were wearing jeans, tshirt, and non-sneaker shoes.

The Ster movie theatre plays most of the latest major releases that come out of Hollywood when they are released to Europe. You have to call up and reserve tickets. It's not like buying movie tickets in the US where you can walk up and purchase tickets. If you do that here, then you are only going to be buying what's left over, or you are buying someone's ticket that wasn't picked up or cancelled. They have assigned seating which sucks. I have only gone here with a Greek companion.
Overall, it's okay, and all the english movies are played in english and have Greek subtitles. Avoid going here on Sunday and Monday evenings as those are the big movie nights here in Saloniki for some reason.
