Don't just go to the square--sit there and relax!
If you want to start getting to know Thessaloniki, start here at Aristoteles Square. It's the heart of the city, pulsating day and night. At the front, there is the sea, on the sides beautiful architecture, and at the other end, the long pedestrian way leading up to the park and old Roman Forum. IN between all this, there is the big square itself, devoid of grass or trees, but full of activity. It's not enough just to come and walk through once. You need to sit down on one of the benches and take it all in. It's the best place to sit and watch the locals going to and fro...young kids, the elderly, businessmen, a few tourists...somehow, they all end up here, for one reason or another. Come once in the morning, again in the afternoon, the evening, and then late at night. Come on a Friday or Saturday night. Come at sunset. Whatever you do, you really just have to take it all in. And for a great view of the square, stay in a seaview room of the Elektra palace Hotel or go up to their rooftop bar for a drink!
Aristotelous Square or Enjoing a Great Coffee
According to my opinion the best place to drink a coffee is at the cafes situated at Aristotelous Square. Facing it from the seaside the cafes on the left side of the square are more calm and are prefered mainly by elderly people or families with small children. On the right side of the square you can find a lot of cafes filled with young people drinking their coffee (from morning to afternoon) or drinks in the evening, listening music and talking about everything. It is the most cosy spot of the town and mainly at the weekends, when everyone is relaxed and wants to drink a coffee. At these days the crowd is so big that there is not enough place even to pass by. The best of these cafes are the ones that are situated closest to the seaside.
this is the main square in the city and the most beautiful one. it's located at the seaside, on the boardwalk with all the caffes. it also has a couple really nice caffes, restaurants and hotels, and in the middle of it there are many manifestations going on. it's also a very popular spot for all trendy young people to be seen at, especially during the weekends
The Christmas tree is officially lighted in the beginning of December every year, and it is a bit event for the city. Big enough to shut down public transportation for a couple of hours:)
The view is worth it, though - the tree and the ship - a symbol of the coming new year - bring the spirit of holidays.

This is 1 of the main squares in Thessaloniki. It's packed with cafés and restaurants, and you can always see people here, having drinks or just walking.
This is the famous Aristoteles Square in Thessa. there is the statue of Aristoteles , and when people pass by it they usually touch his foot...so it become shiny with time :)
Aristotle's square at the center of Thessaloniki with a lot of cafes. The buildings arround it as well as the buildings along Aristotelous street are of uniform architecture.
