Arachova located in the western part of the prefecture of Viotia. It is one of the highest towns. It is connected with GR-48 linking Amfissa and Livadeia with curvy roads westward to Delphi and GR-29 with curvy roads linking to villages near the Gulf of Corinth and Distomo. It is located SE of Amfissa, S of Lamia, W of Livadeia, 160 km NW of Athens, NE of Itea and 12 km E of Delphi.

You may get to Arachova by bus from Athens (5 times a day) and from Delphi (7 times a day, 20 min, 1€).
Best of all is getting there by excursion bus (like me).

  • Better Taking a Car

The best way to go to Arachova is by car. It is aprox. 160km from Athens. With a car you have the freedom of exploring the area and visiting the ski center of Parnassos. There are busses, both public and private (from various ski companies), but there is no public bus carrying you to the ski center. So driving the car or hiring a taxi is the most preferable solution you have.

  • Getting to Ossios Loukas

Getting to the monastery of Ossios Loukas can be difficult if you are not renting your own car. The best way to get there is to take the bus that runs between Delphi and Athens and asked to get dropped off at the road that leads to Distomo (nearest town to Ossios Loukas). You will then have to walk 3km to town to get a taxi to the monastery.
