    Viotia is made a wide plain, Orchomenus between two mountain ranges. The two main cities, Thebes and Orchomenus stand in the plain, shown here from the southern mountain range (Helicon). During the Antiquity, Thebes played a great part among the Greek cities.

    Besides giving olives, olive trees give also a good shade. This tree was large enough to accommodate a whole flock of sheep with half a hundred animals protected from the burning sun of Viotia by both the tree itself and by a reed roofing.
