Fira Flights

Olympic Airways which is Greek National Airline and run by the goverment. It operates atleast 6 daily flights To & From Athens to Thira in high season and in low season it operates daily one and on few days two flights To & From Athens. I went there in Off Season and the price of Oneway ticket was 83 Euros from Santorini to Athens & from Mykonos to Santorini was 60 Euros.

Santorini airport is a very small airport and when the plan lands on this beautiful small airport it really looks very nice. Only small plans usually operate To & From Santorini because the runway is not for bigger planes.

By the way, In order to reach the airport from the main city of this Island, 'FIRA'. the best way is to take a taxi for 7.5 euros from the bus stand in fira. Otherwise, in summer there are frequent busses from Fira bus stand to Airport. The airport is 15-20 mins by taxi and more by bus.

After our trip to Thira for one day (23.11.02), the next day we had a flight from thira to Athens by Aegean Air. It was a very nice comfortable flight. Thank God there was not any problem. The on-board service was good. Air hostesses were friendly. You can buy ticket from any travel agent or u can simply buy ticket from Airport office of Aegean Air. It costed me 83 Euros from Thira to Athens oneway.

As I said by plane or ferry or flying dolphin from Athens or Thessaloniki or Heraclion.
Santorini has buses that can easily take you everywhere or (better) you can hire a motorbike. Cars are quite expensive. Bicycle? Too much heat!

We took a Taxi from Airport to Fira, the capital of Santorini Island. but in Summer there are regular bus connections available from Airport to Fira and from Fira to other towns of Santorini. Following is a small list of Buses from Fira Bus station (Summer Timings):

Every Hour to AKROTIRI - 1.2 Euros
Every 30 mins to OIA - 0.9 Euros
Every 30 mins to Monolithos - 0.8 Euros
Every 30 mins to Kamari - 0.8 Euros
Every 30 mins to Perissa - 1.3 Euros

If you would like to go to Port Athinios for catching your ferry the buses usually leave 1 & a half hours usually before ferry departs.

Santorini has an international airport. There are daily flights to/from Athens during summer and less frequent weekly flights to/from Rhodos, Mykenos and Heraklion, Crete. But to approach the island onboard a ship is unforgettable. Ferries come in daily from Piraeus and there are frequent connections with other islands (Ios, Paros, Crete, Naxos etc.).

The busses in Santorini are fantastic. No car required, you can easily get to Perissa, Kamari, Akrotiri, Oia, the ferry, the airport, in just a few minutes. Check the schedules ahead of time so you are not disappointed -- there are surprisingly few trips to the airport, and they are in no way related to when planes actually arrive or leave. However, getting to a beach couldn't be easier.
