As disco 69 says, try it...you'll love it!!!
For only 18 euro, we were able to rent this 4 wheeler for the day. On Ios it is very advantageous to rent a scooter of ATV since much of the island is inaccessable by any other way. Our ATV only went 15 mph downhill, but it was able to get us to Manginari Beach and almost to Homer's Tomb. I say almost because our vehicle stalled at the top of a...more
We went to the Far Out Club as soon as we got to Ios. It is on Mylopotis beach. This is a popular place for backpackers to stay. We went during the day and there were people everywhere. I think there was some kind of "t-shirt" contest going on. There are a few pools, waterslides, bars, internet access, and even a cheap cafe. There seems to be...more

Having travelled round Greece for many summers i am happy to say that we finally found a restaurant that serves REAL italian thin crust pizzas.I am reliably informed that their pizza chef is italian and he cooks all the pizzas in a wood fired oven. The rest of the menu is Italian and mediterranean and is also very very tasty.Pomodoro is in the hora...more
Ali Baba's is a must for anyone visiting Ios. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had at a reasonable price. The owner greeted us as we arrived and the service continued to be excellent for the rest of our meal. They had a deal where if youy drank 3 long island iced teas, you would get an Ali baba's t-shirt. My girlfriend and I split the drinks...more

The Blue Note nightclub is located in town by everyother nightclub on the island. It is owned by Francesco who also runs a hostel on the other end of the town. If you stay at the hostel, they will lead anyone who wants to go to the Note once the hostel bar closes down at midnight. You will also get a free shot with your first drink. The club itself...more
Most of the bars in Ios are open through the night till atleast 5 a.m the next morning. And a lot of these bars have dance floors. If there is a not a regular dance floor, the bar patrons jump on the tables and dance. The atmosphere in the bars is really electric and the crowd is amazing but very well behaved. It is so much fun. Casuals.more
No doubt what's the place to party in Greece: IOS! There's been a party there since the 70's. Still going on! Check out Blue Note, Scorpio, Disco 69, Slammer, Sweet Irish Dreams and more. Try the bar crawl. Crazy! Ios has also the best beaches in Greece; Mylopotas & Manganari. Hersonissos in Crete is also a hotspot for partying. Go to Aqua Club....more
The only downside about Ios is the 9 hour ferry ride from Athens to get there. There are usually two ferries a day that run to the island (more on cetain lines), one that goes in the morning and one in the evening. This makes your arrival time in Ios evening or some crazy hour of the morning. Luckily, tons of the places to stay there will pick you...more
Make sure you give yourself a few spare days at the end of your holidays. Greek ferries have a tendancy to go on strike in the middle of summer and although it's nice to get stuck a few more days in the sun, it can be extremely annoying if this makes you miss your flight back.more

The Cycladic island of IOS is teeming with enchanting, whitewashed villages full of steps and alleys, small courtyards where red geraniums and bouganvillia grow. Windmills dot the island as do churches and chapels (Ios claims to have 365, scattered across the island). The island diffuses itself into sparsely inhabited valleys and rocky hillsides....more
One of the biggest natural harbours in the Aegean, is the Port town of YIALOS. To the left side of the Port stands St. Irini - Agia Irini - a chapel of amazing beauty, built in the 17th century. Cool yourself at the beach of Gialos to the right of the port, where you will also find many restaurants, bars and cafe's. The ferries make frequent stops...more
