    Where To Catch The Sunset!

Between the twin harbours of Korissia and Voukari is a cafe/bar called Kews atop the hillock and is an ideal place to catch the sun setting over the bay's inlet.

The cafe comprises a series of stone terraces providing both intimate and communal areas whether just for a beer or a meal from the relatively simple, and perhaps slightly "trendy" menu - but the beer and the complimentary chips were fine for me as the sun went down and dinner was to follow back at the port.

    Well worth a visit tho'.

PS And you can watch the ferries coming and going!

    Of Rain and Hair!

by johngayton Updated Oct 31, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

First port of call from the mainland, sunshine thios morning (hmm..."thios" - getting definitely Greek with my spelling!!) and then torrential rain, almost Devon-like but slightly warmer, tho' a good degree of the horizontal - home from home!!

The wind blew, a meal was eaten, a few beers sunk and the captains mutinied - now that IS a Greek thing - in my personal experience it's normally the crew who do the mutiny thing, but HEY remember where we are!!!

Well, it all went over my head, still dazed and confused from Copenhagen, and then I realised that here's a barber shop - what better way to spend a rainy day on Kea?

The mane was trimmed, ruffled, massaged: the ears defoliated - HA! "It's a miracle, I can hear again!" And then became a sort of civilized human being again - stress leaving and the rain not mattering - Yamas Antonio!!

    VISITING IOULIDA

    by vago1 Updated Aug 24, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The island's capital, Hora or Ioulida ( 6 km from Korissia ), has maintained its Cycladic idiom intact. Built in the shape of an amphitheatre, it presents the visitor with an impressive vista of two-storey houses and tiled roofs, steep cobbled alleyways and splendid churches with elaborately carved wooden icon screens. At the highest point of the village, on the site of the ancient acropolis, is a quarter known as Kastro which commands a breathtaking view of the nearby islands off the coast of Attica.
