There are 5 windmills located in the vicinity of Little Venice. These are the icons of Mykonos. Traditionally, these windmills were used as grinding mills, deriving its power from the wind. Today, these white circular buildings with conical roofs have been restored as residential dwellings, shops and a museum. At one time there were many windmills on the island and they were used to grind grain. There are far fewer now, but you will still find them. Many of the remaining are nonfunctional and a few have been converted into homes. Cool house! The venetian windmills are some kind of landmark of Mykonos and you can see them in many postcards. You will have your photos here for sure and it's amazing during the sunset.
One of them is a house now and you can see them on the hill up on the right side of Little Venice area so it's great to have a photo of Little Venice too...
There are many other wind mills across the island but these here are not in function anymore.

One of the attractions of Mykonos are the wind mills which have gained fame in one of the James Bond Movies. Beautifully aligned they overlook the bay of Mykonos. I would not go up the hill just for taking a picture, but my Hostel was up the hill so I took this picture of the mills while going down to the village.
