how to go there
Apollonia is located at the east side of Sifnos, 3km west of Kastro, or 5km east from Kamares (the port).
In the heart of Sifnos island, you will pass from Apollonia anyway. There’s a big parking lot at the entrance of the village as you come from Kamares.
Actually in Apollonia we rented a car from AUTO-MOTO APOLLO RENTAL which is located next to EKO gas station.
Dimitris is the friendly owner that came down to Kamares to give us the car. We payed 25 euro per day while the scooter was at 10 euros per day.
Another one we saw was F&S (tel:2284031795)
Every bus on the island departs from Artemonas (1,5km from Apollonia) so they stop at Apollonia 5’ later on their way to Kamares, Kastro, Vathi, Plati Yialos, Faros.
In early May there weren’t many buses but during summer there are many more.
For timetable off season you better check here before you arrive, on may 2013 it was fully updated including the special buses for the Holy Week but also the timetable for the next months. Usually they have it written on the bus stop too, most hotels will have the timetable too.
bus stop locations in apollonia:
-in front of the tourist office: for Kamares
-opposite of the tourist office: for Artemonas
-in front of hotel Anthousa: for Platy Yialos, Chrysopigi, Faros, Vathi
-opposite hotel Anthousa: for Artemonas, Kastro
if you don’t have a car and you travel there off season and the bus times are not suitable you may use a taxi. From Apollonia it will be easy as there are located at Iroon Square, in front of the Pharmacy. Most of the times we saw there 3-4 taxis. You can also call one at:

How to move around
You can easily walk around Apollonia. It’s the biggest village of the island but still not that big to get lost :) Pic3 is a map of Apollonia, we didn’t use any map here but just for the record.
The main street is in walking distance from the main parking lot and the central square (Iroon square). It is a pedestrianized alley in the heart of the village where you will find most of the café, taverns and stores, there’s a small map of the alley (pic 2) in front of Iroon square.
The bus will leave you at Iroon square, from there you can take the alley (next to Lakis café) up to Ano Petali (5’ walk) and then to the next hill for Artemonas (20’ walk)
