  • Oia Sunset

Oia is a little jewel incrustrated in the north part of Santorini Island. Its white houses, narrow and winding streets and the sea below makes you remember how amazing this island must have looked like before the hords of tourists, mesmerized by postcards, movies and TV spots arrived.Anyway, I went to Oia to see what was supposed to be the best...

  • Ammoudi

If you get the chance then please visit Ammoundi, personally I think this place gets over looked, but its a charming port at the base of Oia. Offering many excellent fish tavernas, crystal clear blue water and a chance to take a swim if you have the time. You can either get to Ammoundi by car (which is what we did) or take a walk down the 200 steps...

  • Windmills

Windmills are a part of Oia's landscape. There are not many of windmills but you will finally see them during your visit. The nicest looking windmill is at the end of the island where people observe sunset.

  • Main square

I would say that Oia has three main places - a square with a bus station, the end of the island with the view of sunset (above Amoudi Bay) and the main square - Nikolaou Nomikou. The square skirts the caldera and many people take photos from this place. The most important building on the square, and probably also in all Oia village is the Greek...

  • Walking path

Oia has one street. It is devided into two parts: one is just a road for cars and the second is a walking path (pedestrian street). You will see almost all Oia when walking along the pedestrain street and the view from this place is the best. The main pedestrian street connects its ends accross the top of the cliff, with many local branches. The...

  • Amoudi beach

The beaches of Amoudi is situated below the settlement of Oia, and is quite popular. Amoudi Beach is one of the most charming Santorini Beaches, with clean, clear waters, a small harbor and several quaint fish taverns and cafes. However, there is not much place to sit and enjoy the view and swim. This is also an ideal place to watch the sunset.

  • AMOUDI BEACH

After walking down what seemed like hundreds of sloping, slippery steps, we finally came to Amoudi Beach where the Friday VT dinner was being held at SUNSET TAVERNA.The waiting staff at the restaurant had the task of feeding us all ( at least 70 members) in a relatively short time and we were all squeezed in together. There was a preset menu for...

  • Best Food on the Island & A Sunset View

The food is amazing. And, the price is so reasonable because it is off the beaten path. Find this restaurant and go. You can still watch the beautiful Oia sunset, but without the crowds. Everything is great, but be sure to sample the appetizers. They are small and delicious.

  • Get there early

Spend a little while scoping out the resteraunt scene to ensure you find a great place to eat and enjoy the sunset. Many resteraunts offer seating on their roof and offer great views. Get there about any hour before the sunset is expected (ask around the locals for approximate times) and enjoy. Dinner can be pretty pricey, but you are in Santorini...

  • Eat at Ammoudhi or Armeni Docks one...

There are a few resteraunts below the main part of Oia at the fishing docks which offer great seafood. While the crowds gather up on the top of Oia to take in the sunset, one should not forget the beauty that lies in this area during the sunset. Old fishing boats bob in the emerald meditteranean sea as the sunset adds an array nof other colors to...

  • The Hidden Jewel

We had just hiked from Fira to Oia to watch the sunset. We were tired and hungry and very under dressed, bathing suits and cover ups on.As we walked around the crowded streets in search of some recommended places to eat, we realized that we didn't want to be at a nice place looking like we did. All we wanted was a reasonably priced meal and...

Katharos beach is not that popular like Armeni or Amoudi beach but, in my opinion, is the best beach in Oia. It is a little bit far from the centre but you may get there by car. In adittion, it has more place to sit than any other beach in Oia. It is rocky beach but all beaches in Oia are like that.:)

The biggest problem is that it is from the oter side of the island and it may be a little bit too windy, especially in August.
