Just too many places in Santorini are overpriced places to drink. If you are willing to walk small distances of about 50 meters, I can save you up to 50% on your night out! Cheap places to drink have the following qualities:
• Non-Caldera view
• Large bottles (500ml) of beer and/or draft
• Are 50-100 meters away from the main square
• Tend to be Tavernas with outdoor seating
• Serve food
• Are genuinely glad to see you
• Serve Mythos – the local beer
• Serve Ouzo in glasses that do not look like works of art
So if you are looking at a great view and have been served a 330ml bottle of warm beer for 5-6 Euros by bored/angry looking bar staff – you are paying too much!!!
If they care - you are paying too much!

Tropical bar has some of the best views of the Caldera in Fira. It is also stupidly expensive. They only serve imported beers in small (330ml) bottles at 5 Euros a go. My advice? Get drunk first and then go there for like 1 beer. It is a great place to sit and watch the sunset and the moon over the water, but you pay a fortune. If you do get drunk, do not become completely incoherent as the guy in the pictures who was drooling all over himself. Before you ask, no he is not a member of VT. We did not invite him to be one either. He would not have remembered what we said anyway. By the way, when I started taking pictures of him, so did every other tourist in the bar. Fair play.

THIS PLACE LOVES VT! Also known locally as Koutouki, it offers a large outdoor dinning area that is set below the road so it’s still nice on windy nights. It’s cheaper than a lot of others and has great food and the best waiter in Greece. I thought his name was ‘Para-kalow’ which actually means ‘Please’. You say it and he appears! Great big beers at good prices and always cold. Music loud, soft or off? Just ask! It is only 100 meters up the hill (North) of the main intersection in Fira on the side of the main road. Good for a romantic dinner or a blow-out VT drinking session! Tell them DAO sent you!

the two brothers bar is a small bar in the center of thira where we went one night and had a great time.
the place has DJ and a dance floor and provided us with just what we needed.

Casablanca has been the top, most controversy and unique bar in Santorini. It reopened in July 2005 and within a few working days it has become the coolest place to be (again) in downtown Fira. This is because people got tired of having to deal with the everynight low quality consumption of altered booze in big clubs and music standards that have remained back in the eighties (meaning mainstream-pop-greek mix, with the same song lists everynight). The place within 200 working days has redetermined the nightlife of Santorini and this can be seen from the list of DJ's and live happenings that took place within those two summer periods. Plays soul, house, jazz and beat tunes for easy listeners and soulful audiences and goes louder while the night progresses . Is a great cocktail place, with nice, neat working youths. Prices from 5 euros for beers to 8 euros for cocktails. Entrance fee in summer time at 10 euros (includes a drink). I have spotted the best dj of France playing there last year without anybody notifying about it (these people do it for their friends or something....) and Osunlade for few nights. Is almost like a private kind of bar, with most people knowing exactly why they are heading there. (Good booze, good music)

So there you are dancing the funky monkey or the headless chicken in a small warm bar full of drunks like you. You are sweating more than you did at the beach today! Take it outside! Good bars have LOUD music and you can dance just outside the door. Just look at Giampiero6 leading the way! Just as much fun and a lot cooler. Do not forget to take your beer with you!
