Good walking shoes are a must, but suggest very comfortable sandles, with light cotton shorts and t-shirts or short sleeved shirts. Bring multiple changes of underwear to remain 'fresh', or launder frequently.
We found that Santorini offers everything a traveler may require. However, a good quality body talc may be helpful to prevent jock itch.
Once again, the shops are well stocked with photo accessories, but expect to pay a premium for these items. Perhaps an extra set of batteries specifically for your camera may prevent lost photo ops.
Bathing suits and light cotton shirts are plentiful on the island. The trunks appear to be reasonably priced, but the white, loosely weaved cotton shirts were expensive. Leave a Comment

Aloe Vera, Sunscreen 30+ SPF, the norm
Lots of water. More than you normally would think. With the black sands sucking in the suns rays towards you, the heat follows, leading you to quicker dehydration and chance for heatstroke or heat exhaustion.

Bring a media card with LOTS of capacity if your camera is digital. Film was available in the towns, but I don't know how expensive it was. In any case, you will surely need more than you think. Leave a Comment

A good map is nice to have and the stuff you get for free from the tourist businesses on Santorini isn't good enough.
The best map I have found is the "Road Editions Santorini 1:35000" published in Athens. Good quality paper, accurate with respect to roads and settlements and altitudes, indicates beaches, and with town maps on the back.
You can get it in the newsstand in the Athens airport, on the ferry to Santorini or in Santorini shops once here.

Bring a sweater! We went to the Greek Islands in September 18-25 (2007) and would have frozen at night if a greek friend had not insisted we pack a sweater. Even though it was hot enough (some days) to spend a lot of time in the ocean, it cooled off quite a bit at night.

I should have learned my lesson the first time. I went to Paris and the hotel provided hair dryers in each room. Oh my gosh! Such a low powered hair dryer it was that it took about 20 minutes to dry my hair. Well, no different in Greece. Stayed at 4 different hotels - all providing hair dryers in the room - all of them were pretty bad. So, my suggestion would be to buy a hair dryer for Europe with the correct European electrical plug.
