This wonderful little Church is situated not far from the main square in Afandou, just up a lane to the rear of the petrol station. As with all Churches in this area, the walls are adorned with wonderful fresco's with wonderful terracotta roof tiles which make a stark contrast to the bright white washed exterior walls. Most of the Churches were open for us to have a look around. It is customary for those entering Churches in Rhodes to remove headwear and cover shoulders.
Afandou has a fantastic beach, the wonderful clear waters of the Mediterranean sea lap its' shores. It is a pebble beach with safe waters for swimming. There are sunbeds for hire on certain sections of the beach and plenty of space if you yearn for some peace and quiet far from the madding crowd. There are some lovely beachside cafe's alongside the beach together with some nice looking fish restaurants at the southern end. The land train from the village of Afandou stops at various places along the promenade & is well used by beachgoers as an inexpensive way of getting to and from the beach.
