Couldnt agree more with Gale. our ferry was late and as stated nobody was around to help. There is very little shelter (if any) and people became faint and quite testy! a couple of families began to argue amongst themselves. The heat in Turkey is much hotter than kos so do be very careful and take lots of water. Go on any day avoiding Tuesdays where possible. The market doesnt close on the other days!! If you decide to visit Bodrum Castle, be very aware that the heat is unbearable. the castle is worth a visit but dont do it at mid-day and do take plenty of water, sun cream, sun hat etc. Also, be aware that the Turkish market sellers are quite pushy so stand your ground!! ooh and barter big time, you will win ;-)
Unique Suggestions: If going to Turkey just take plenty of water, sun protection etc and be aware of the market traders at all times.
Fun Alternatives: Don't go on a Tuesday.
Tuesday is the market day in Bodrum so people from all around (including Kos) go there to do their shopping. The thing is that no matter what day of the week it is, you can buy anything in Bodrum anyway but on Tuesday you will have to wait in full sun for hours to get on your ferry to Turkey. In our case the ferry was 2 hours late and nobody did anything to help the huge crowd of tourists with no shelter at all, standing in the heat. Several people fainted, everyone was angry.... The whole day spoilt :-(
Unique Suggestions: Take several bottles of water and a sun hat. Chose the earliest possible ferry to Bodrum and be one hour early at the harbour.
Fun Alternatives: Go to Bodrum on any other day.
