    The bars, cafes, tavernas, restaurants, squares, streets, shops in fact every part of the old town is simply fabulous by night. I could never get bored of walking around these streets and that's even before I start to think of "where shall I eat" or "where shall I drink" - though we did find some favourite spots for both.

    This area around Sofokleous square, by the mosque of Ibraim, is a great place. Just a few steps away from Hippocrates square it is just soooo quiet compared to that place. It's like tourists don't know of it, and most of the clients seem to be local, or at least Greek. The bars are set in bare stone vaulted buildings, though some are decorated with lovely mosaics, and have rich wooden fittings. Some have benches with cushions strewn about on them outside in the square. And the street is covered with a canopy of vines. Simply wonderful.

    It's not that easy to find a place for dancing here. It's not like Spain, that you dance in any bar. Most of the places are bars and pubs where people just drink. There is a bar called Angel, supposedly being the one for dancing but I haven't experienced it. People were just sitting there or standing with their drinks.

    Having Rhodes bars as an option, we figured out we would come better off having our own party on the hotel balcony.
    So, the option was walking down the bar street (in Rhodes City or Faliraki), being bugged by teenagers trying to make us enter one of the bars, in the worst case - entering one, drinking beer or some cocktail - 5 Eur each and watching the teenagers getting dead drunk. Plus, I had the worst Strawberry Margharita in my life in Rhodes City.
    If you decide to stay in your hotel balcony, you can make your own cocktails, play stupid games, dance, put your feet on the table and just enjoy the relaxed party.

    No dress code but mosquito repellent might be usefull!

    There are a lot of good bars and cafes etc. in the new town too. They don't have the same atmosphere as the old town, but tend to have either a younger sort of feel to them or a more family orientated feel - depending on how far towards the resort you get. There are whole streets of family friendly tavernas around the resort part of the New Town, close to the hotel where we stayed.

    The Crown Prince Pub (CP) is a great place to go before you go to a disco or club at night. They serve a lot of fine beers and the best cocktails. Service is mixed Greek and Scandinavian (mostly Swedish). If you're there ask for Caroline (Swe). She's my friend and just the best waitress I've ever seen. You can tell I've said that. But I've to say that all the time I stayed there (and that's a lot) I've made great friends.

    In holiday season tourists are attracted by a 'Light & Sound' Show featured in the Municipal Park. I wasn't lucky enough to be able to see it but from what I heard from people who enojyed the show it seems to be a real attraction both for adults and for children.

    Well, as I said above, I never experienced the show myself so the only pics I can share are those of the Municipal Park in daylight.

    Most tour operators will offer you an excursion called "Greek Night", you will be transported from your resort by coach, and taken to a village in the mountains.

    At ours we enjoyed various courses of Greek food, dancers in traditional dress, free flowing very strong wine and ouzo!

    If you have not been on a Greek Night before I would certainly recommend it!

    This seems to be the only casino in the whole island - but I might be wrong. Anyway, the building is large and surrounded with a very nice garden, full of tempting green shade on sunny days.

    I'm not really into gambling, although I can understand those who like that sort of entertainment.

    The casino contains a hotel and at least two elegant restaurants. Seems like a good money- and time-spender.

    Casual casino stuff: I'm sure that you wouldn't feel good without a tie and jacket in a casino, would you.

    A place with live music ( and really good !), a seperate part for house music and an upstairs bar with a good dj. You really should go there...
