by dedeckerm. The airport of Rhodes has daily charter flights from many European cities. The International Airport of Rhodes, is among the best in Greece. It is located 15 km away from the city of Rhodes, on the west coast near the town of Paradisi. The usual services that can be found on any International Airport, can also be found here, including but not limited to banks, car-hire firms, shops, Snack Bars, and a duty-free shopiing you are traveling abroad Large ferry boats go daily between Piraeus and Rhodes. At Rhodos Airport by himalia11 The airport of Rhodes is situated at the west coast, 15 km away of the city of Rhodes. Charter flights from many European cities go there - we had the impression that most came from Germany! The airport is a little one, but you'll find several shops and a cafeteria inside. At arrival everything went really quick: we were brought to the terminal building by bus (it wasn't a long distance!), and got our baggages very fast. At departure, everything took much longer, as lots of planes were leaving. You first had to pass the baggage check which went rather fast although there had been a long queue. Then we waited at the check-in counter, which took rather long. Also, for a later flight, they weren't able to open a check-in counter... The security check then is upstairs, and this was fast again. by vago1 You arrive to Rhodes from Athens after about 55 minutes of flight or after 16 hours if you choose to travel by ferryboat. The air schedules vary during the year. In the peak period (May to September), you can expect regular daily flights to and from Athens, Heraklion Crete, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Mykonos, and Karpathos. In addition there are weekly connections to Kastellorizo and Kassos. At the same period of year, there are a number of regular international connections with the major European cities, Israel and Egypt and a large number of chartered flights from all around the world Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

We booked charter flights through Travel Republic's website which enables you to choose from a wide range of carriers. We went with FlyJet which offered convenient daytime flights, so no hassle getting to or from airports at odd hours! Our return tickets flying out the end of September 2005 and coming back a fortnight later cost 200 pounds and included a meal. Drinks, snacks and headphones for listening to the inflight film cost extra. Seating is assigned as you check in. The flights were fine and the staff were friendly but the seats are packed in tight. You can pay a supplement for extra legroom. There is a 20kg per person limit on checked luggage both ways (plus one carry-on weighing up to 7kg ). Anything over your limit and they will charge another 3.50 PER KILO (it'd be cheaper to post things back I bet). See my packing tip for advice on crating back home all your cheap booze ! Practically all UK charter flights to Rhodes fly on a Wednesday and frankly the new airport in Rhodes can hardly cope. It must be bonkers in high summer. All I can say is be prepared for LONG queues for your flight back (sometimes outside without any shade) and expect a shambolic approach to checking in. Leave a Comment

They do not exist! Charter filights operate from UK May to October, outside these times you need to change at Athens whichever airline you use. For our recent March visit we booked last May. Using the well known flight search websites all we got was Olympic Airways or an OA/BA combination with a cost for two of us ex LHR of around £600!! Now, I had a bright idea and searched the airport websites for both Athens and Rhodes to see which airlines flew to/from them. BRILLIANT, GENIUS EVEN. British Airways provided us with flights LHR-Athens at around £150 each and Aegean Air provide the hop across for around £58 each, because of schedules we spent a night in a budget hotel in Athens but that only added another £20 each including Metro costs, a total saving of around £140 which went into the beer fund. Little Getz by Maggies The best way for travelling around the island is renting a car. You can bergain a bit as there are rent a car agencies everywhere. We rented Hyundai Getz which was 45 Euro a day, if you were taking it for at least 3 days. Make sure you check if there is full insurance on the car before you choose one. To get from Ixia to Rodos City you can either take a bus or a taxi. The bus goes every 30 minutes and the ticket costs 1.20 Euro. The taxi ride costs 6 Eur. There is a taxi-rank and a board with the fares for all the connections on the island next to Marine gate in Rodos City. Theme: Car/Motor Home

finally in Tsambika by sandysmith ts a bit confusing as sometimes you buy a ticket before you get on the bus, sometimes a return and others a single only and sometimes you can only pay on the bus! However there are kiosks staffed by friendly english speaking greeks to help out and the timetables are available too - copies of timetable can be obtained from the nearby tourist office. I found they pretty well run to schedule and were mostly air conditioned. Prices varied acording to distance for example Lindos was 3.70 euros each way and Faliraki was 1.70 euros each way. Not expensive and often passed through some of the smaller villages en route too which was interesting to see - although the bus we caught to Tsambika did a tour around all the hotel s of Kolymbia and took ages to get there! The “Taxis” of Lindos are the donkeys. The tourists have the possibility to drive on the back of the donkeys, and to enjoy the beautiful way, trough the town. You can make the distance from the main square to the Acropolis Castle, only for a price of 5 Euro. The owners of the donkeys protect you and make your trip safely. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
