Little Getz by Maggies The best way for travelling around the island is renting a car. You can bergain a bit as there are rent a car agencies everywhere. We rented Hyundai Getz which was 45 Euro a day, if you were taking it for at least 3 days. Make sure you check if there is full insurance on the car before you choose one. To get from Ixia to Rodos City you can either take a bus or a taxi. The bus goes every 30 minutes and the ticket costs 1.20 Euro. The taxi ride costs 6 Eur. There is a taxi-rank and a board with the fares for all the connections on the island next to Marine gate in Rodos City. Theme: Car/Motor Home

finally in Tsambika by sandysmith ts a bit confusing as sometimes you buy a ticket before you get on the bus, sometimes a return and others a single only and sometimes you can only pay on the bus! However there are kiosks staffed by friendly english speaking greeks to help out and the timetables are available too - copies of timetable can be obtained from the nearby tourist office. I found they pretty well run to schedule and were mostly air conditioned. Prices varied acording to distance for example Lindos was 3.70 euros each way and Faliraki was 1.70 euros each way. Not expensive and often passed through some of the smaller villages en route too which was interesting to see - although the bus we caught to Tsambika did a tour around all the hotel s of Kolymbia and took ages to get there! The “Taxis” of Lindos are the donkeys. The tourists have the possibility to drive on the back of the donkeys, and to enjoy the beautiful way, trough the town. You can make the distance from the main square to the Acropolis Castle, only for a price of 5 Euro. The owners of the donkeys protect you and make your trip safely. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

bus stop Rhodes by sandysmith Rhodes has a good network of buses serving the island with the terminus being in Rhodes Town. The non-harbour perimerter of the Nea Agora is where the bus stations are for buses to the West and east of the Island. Th two stations virtually merge into each other even though they are on different roads - Rimini Square for the East Side bus station and Averos Street for the West side buses. The most popular beach resorts are easily reached ie. Faliraki, kalithea, kolymbia and Lindos on the east - less frequently to other nice beaches of Stegna ,Haraki and Pefkos. The furthest you can take a bus to on the east side in a day is Gennadi. The West side is more typically greek and places such as Butterfly valley at Petaloudes and Kamiios can be reached as well as the resorts of Kremasti and Ixia and the airport. Theme: Bus

Use the local buses around the island whereever possible - it can save having an accident - especially for us Brits who are not used to driving on that side of the road. They are plentiful in high season and can get you more or less anywhere on the island while you take in the scenery( added bonus). Also used the sightseeing tour around Rhodes Town which comes included with a 24hr bus ticket price ( we bought one for Ancient Kamiros & the Acropolis ). Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Donkey Station by Maggies In cities like Lindos you can either walk or take a donkey. The steets are so narrow that it's impossible to drive inside it. There is a big coach and car park outside the city and a donkey station at the entrance to the old town. The donkeys are also waiting for tourists in Lindos Bay and at the entrance to the Acropolis. Public transportation, especially bus transportation is something I admire in Greece. In Rhodes (both the town and the island) you can get anywhere by bus. Coaches are not expensive and in good technical condition. Timetables are are available at Rhodes' small bus station and usually at hotel reception desks. Municipal buses are ran by RODA Coaches are ran by KTEL Leave a Comment

Rhodes has a decent road network with the mountain roads providing spectacular vistas. Renting a car is the way to go in seeing the island. We spent 40 Euro (low season) in renting a car (Hundai Accent) which was delivered to the port and another 10 on gas for a full days driving. Be warned though that most gas stations are outside the cities and are less expensive than the central ones. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Nice bus stop, no bus by gilabrand Based on my experience, I wouldn’t count on the public buses in Rhodes. None of the bus stops had any numbers on them, and practically the only ones I saw during my stay were tourist coaches. The buses did not seem to keep to any schedule. I waited at the bus stop for a bus to the airport, which was supposed to run every half hour. After a while, it sunk in that no bus was coming and we hailed a taxi. Lucky we did. We almost missed our plane. Apparently, the schedules change every week. So if you insist on getting around by bus, pick up a timetable at the kiosk behind the New Market building – and remember: None of this is etched in stone. Renting a car in Rhodes is a much better option for travel - at least outside the city. The whole experience of car rental here was amazingly quick and headache-free (and I say this as someone who rarely rents a car overseas). Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

by gale.blog.pl You can rent a motorbike even in the smallest villages of Rhodes. They are inexpensive and easy to drive. You however need to check throughly the technical condition of what you're about to rent - all of them look nice and shiny bue not all of them are perfect. Remember to wear a helmet while driving a motorbike. You may not look stunning in a bucket on your head but safety is more important than your hair style :-) Leave a Comment Theme: Motorcycle
