Favorite thing: This nice garden is located near the Nea Agora (the new market). It's a place where you can spend some time resting a bit after a long walk.
This is the place where the Sound and Light show takes place in the evening. This show is about the history of the island, without actors, but with lights, music and sounds. I didn't attend to this show, but I'd like to do it next time I visit Rhodes.

Favorite thing: Ladiko Bay, or Anthony Quinn's Bay lies on the northeastern coast and only 15 km away from the town of Rhodes. Ladiko became famous after Anthony Quinn’s movie the Guns of Navarone was filmed here. Anthony Quinn bought part of this area.
The beach here is small, but it wasn't crowded at the end of june.

Favorite thing: This old thermal estabilishment was built and designed by the Italians between 1929 and 1930. It has been restored recently. Today it is not in operation any more like spa, but here you can enjoy a beautiful small beach, a arden with lots of flowers and two pavilions of the former spa.
Among the facilities at Kallithea there is a cafe-restaurant, a gift shop and toilettes.
Kallithea spa is on the road to Faliraki and only some eight km far from Rhodes town.
I went to Kallithea spa from Lindos by bus. The journey took around one hour.

Favorite thing: This nice tower was built on the ruins of a Byzantine tower that was connected with the Palace of the Grand Master. In 1856 it was destroyed by the explosion of the nearby church of S. John of the Knights.
For the price of 5 euros you can go up to the top and enjoy the landscape over the town. A complimentary drink is included in the fee.

Favorite thing: Here you can find various shops and restaurants. The building with a staircase you can see in this square is the Kastelania. It was built in 1597 and was used as a shopping mall. Today it houses the town library.

Favorite thing: These were built probably on Byzantine fortifications in many stages; from 1400 to 1500. The walls are around 4 km long. They have several towers and eleven gates. Each order of knights (Langues) was responsible for the defense of a section of the walls.

Favorite thing: Other people have heaps on tips and photos on Rodos, so I am not going to add more.
I will say, that I think the best way to make sure that YOU DO NOT MISS THE MAIN SIGHTS, is to buy a map from the tourist information centre or from one of the Shops. The one I bought had all the main sites numbered, so I didn't miss any. Then, I just explored the laneways and found some delightful places for photo opportunities. This city is one that is best explored on foot.
The map cost me 1 euro.

Favorite thing: Ipoton Street, or the Street of the Knights is about 600 meters long. Here, on the right and on the left side you can see the inns belonged to the Knights. These were used as gathering places and temporary residences for visiting dignitaries.
Today the inns are used as government offices.

Favorite thing: This was the port of ancient Rhodos. Its entrance could be closed with chains. Time ago at its entrance there were a deer and a hind. Today you can see only the deer. What happened to the hind I really don't know.
The Mandraki is where you can see lots of fishing and daytrips boats. In fact you can book a cruise to Symi Island or to Marmaris (Turkey) here.

Favorite thing: Water
The tap water is natural spring water. That means you can drink it without stomach trouble.
Banks
Banks are normally open Mon. - Fr. 08.00 - 14.00 but closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. You'll find banks in all towns and main resorts and all of them change money, travelers cheques and euro cheques supported by an euro cheque card. Some banks also give cash on major credit cards. There are also plenty exchange offices around the island (in rent a car, hotels, travel agencies). When changing travelers cheques don't forget to take your passport along. Most major credit cards are accepted in many shops, taverns and banks, but it is advisable to check first. The money on Rhodes is the Euro.
Chemists
are recognizable by a red or a green cross which is displayed outside. The opening hours are the same as the shops around.
