Survivors manual for Rhodos in summer
Luggage and bags: We would recommend to take suitcases that have some unusual colour (not black!!!) because the Rhodos airport is the 4th busiest airport in Greece and it means that it can be quite many people in quite little airport at the same time so it may be a bit complicated to find your suitcase in a pile of other black suitcases.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Take light cotton clothes if you are coming here from May to middle of September, try to avoid tight clothes or the ones with lycra because it is abnormally hot here in Rhodos even at night.
Take as many tshirts as you have because you may need to change them 3 times a day. Get yourself sandals or slippers and be sure that they are comfortable for you because if you get any wounds on your feet you will not be able to swim in super salty aegean sea (our experience).
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Most of the pharmacies (!) and regular mini markets keep sunblock creams outside, note that it gets up to 36 degrees there so that can't be very hygienic. We recommend you to buy sunblock creams in your country, it may also be cheaper and maybe more hygienic.
Photo Equipment: All the tourist equipment is not a problem to buy in Rhodes, you will find regular batteries in every mini market shop.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: We noticed many people had airbeds in the beach, so they did not have to pay for the sunbed, which we thought was quite clever. You can buy towels, hats and airbeds on almost every mini market but we would recommend to take your own towels and hats since the quality is not always very good.
Miscellaneous: Make sure you have enough of cash (euros) or that your bank allows you to take as much money as you need from your credit/debit card every day. Note that Rhodes is expensive place.
Luggage and bags: Take a half empty suitcase to leave room for the bargains and shopping in Rhodes. I wish my case had room but I already had the embarassment of having a "heavy" sticker being put on it at check-in - it was overweight already :-S
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: jelly shoes or swim shoes are a good idea for ppebbly/shingly beaches - although you can get them out here as I did.
