There are still some ruins from WW II here in Symi. The buildings were destroyed when the Germans detonated the munitions cached in there.
If you walk up the hill, the views you have are just breathtaking. Every step shows you something new; an open view, a pass between the houses or a flowery arch. It looks heavenly.
350 wide steps to the upper part of Symi, not for the faint hearted, but worth it for the excellent views. This pic was taken from one of the narrower steps up to the top.
At the top of the Kali Strata is a row of windmills that stretches off across the hillside. They're largely ruined though some have been converted into houses now - how lovely!
