Favorite thing: Skiathos has branches of most Greek banks which work in cooperation with the most important foreign and international banks and you will find a wide display of ATM’s spread all over the centre town area at your disposal.

Favorite thing: The island is rather cold in the winter, but it has a pleasant climate during the summer. The usual daytime air temperature is over 30 °C usually in July and August,but night temperature is lower. The water is warm during from July to September,but colder in the beginning of the season. You will not experience any rain phenomenon in Skiathos, since rain is very rare during the summer months, note that there is on average only one raining day in June and September and none in July and August.

Favorite thing: The island’s traditional architecture,does not have a severe island character.On the other hand,it is a combination of a traditional village in Greece and an island village,with neoclassical elements. Influenced by the attitude and the needs of the local people,local architecture is one of a kind and will undoubtedly cast a spell on you.

With small white houses in their majority,built close to each other you will feel the hospitality of the island taking over you from the minute you step on the island .Built of stone with external whitewashed walls,the local houses will amaze you.The narrow streets,the corners of the houses are cut in such a way so that walking through them is easier and at the same time they give you a sense of unforgettable hospitality.As far as the fashion tradition goes,be aware that a hundred and twenty years ago,everybody in Skiathos,men and women were wearing the local,traditional clothes but nowadays we could say that fashion is totally updated.The rich cultural background of the island is obvious in every corner and will undoubtedly cast its spell on you.

Favorite thing: Visit the dog shelter. It is an hours walk from the bus stop at Troulos, 3.5 kilometer on a switchback road. Can get a taxi but please make sure they understand that you require a pick up later. We managed to get stranded, by our taxi driver.

This has been going for 12 plus years. We visited on our previous trip to the island 6 years ago. Then we walked a dog called Fraggle, and spoke to Helen (who runs the dog's home) and she had photo's of Fraggle who had been re-homed in Switzerland. Helen has photo's of all her re-homed dogs. This trip we walked Wilma, a cocker spaniel who was pregnant and whilst on the island for our 2 weeks she gave birth to 3 healthy puppies. I would just like to add that Edwina Currie has one of these dogs.

Fondest memory: Earing at Kalyves taverna. We had eaten there 6 years ago, and it has not changed. We had wonderful food, great company and we reccommended it to any one that asked.

We met a couple that were staying in Skiathos town, but had travelled to Troulos for the evening. They asked where they could eat the had "The Greek Feel" to it. Gave them directions etc. Two night's later we were back in the taverna and they were there. They had eaten every night in the taverna and travelled fro Skiathos Town each night, they loved it and thanked us for the reccommendation. What more can we say.

very pretty

the harbour is very nice and lots of walks to do.................

Fondest memory: hi there just returned form pretty skiathos the whole town is fab.yes it can be a bit more expensive but never mind .we loved skiathos and we will return................
the boat trips ae great and u get a water taxi to tsourgiis beach .........across the bay its very nice.for 8 euros return
as fir the eating out palces be very carefull with the water front eateries as they tend to be more expensive...........very.....!!!!!!!
half way through the week we tended to stroll rouind the bak and uo the main street as there lots of good tavernas there........
the bourtzy island is very nice to sit at night and sip on a large cool beer...............for hubby and i drank a very large baileys....total 8 euros..........
jimmys bar at the end of the harbour is a good place for cocktails ..........and the fish restraunt near by served the best fish
stay away from the upper level of resatraunts above the harbour where u can sit and look out ...u cant miss them....we got toatlly ripped off there for a fish and steak meal...........
but we will return....................

Favorite thing: This beach is probably one of the most photogenic in entire Greece. And you will immediately know why. The sea is almost emerald and the beach is really unique and unforgetable. Few of them are have such impressive strength.
