Stavros Travel Guide

 JLBG Says:  Guess whom might be that statue standing in the middle of the central square of Stavos ? As we are on Ithaki, it has to be Ulysses, the most famous of all the islanders. Diggings have been performed in several places and Ulysse’s palace might have been near the village.... 

 JLBG Says:  As we needed to buy some bread, we decided to walk to Stavros, The climb was only 2 km and rather steep as Stavros stands at an elevation of 250 meters over sea level. One of the houses at the beginning of the road was really pretty with a large boungainvillea climbing on... 

 JLBG Says:  Local boats have sometimes an amazing load of passengers! Look at the first photo : though the boat is less than 15 feet long, I have counted 14 passengers and nevertheless, the boat does not seem to be exceedingly low on the water ! Not sure that it fulfills security rules... 

 JLBG Says:  Ormos Polis was not a touristy place when we visited it and as space is very limited, it is very unlikely to have changed.It has the quiet life of every small Greek harbors with fishermen taking care of their boat, mending their net or just sitting in their boat !
