Great beach and good location to visit Argolida
A little too crowded for my taste
We took a water taxi over to Poros from the town of Galatas. It was a short trip about 5 minutes and you are there. Poros was very picturesque we did not have a lot of time so it was short but would like to return one day and maybe spend a few days there. Judging by the amount of yachts etc it is a bit of a rich mans playground. I have heard it is...more
Well of course we could not visit this region without a visit to this spectacular sight. It is not far to drive here from Tolon and took us less than an hour. The theatre is amazing and the situation is such that the acoustics must have been and still are spectacular. The ancient Greeks who built this must have been so clever and proud of the...more
Nafplio is a lovely town the former capital of Greece. From Tolo you can drive here in a matter of 15 minutes it is not far. We came here twice to eat and also to have a shopping trip. The fort or bourtzi out on the water is very picturesque although we could not find time to visit. It was built in the 14th century and later in the 18th century the...more
The beach in tolo is lovely, the first couple of days we drove out of Tolo to nearby beaches. The beach did look very busy but when we decided to give it a try we found it was just right . It is sandy and easy for children to walk into. At the far end which we favoured is a small canteen selling drinks and snacks. All the usual amenities are there...more
The beach in Tolon is quite good for greek standars.Tery often the beaches in Greece are just rocks and pebble stones, but in Tolon you have a beach with fine white sands. It´s also a beach that is mostly frequented by locals and that gives the place a more authentic vibe. The beach is in a bay so the vawes are rarely big which makes it good for...more
From Tolon it is very easy to visit a lot of great sites. The best transportation is having your own car or rent one but it can be done also by bus.- day trip to Epidavros is about one hour driving, you can visit the famous theater, the archaeological site and than rest at the beach few kilometer from the site.- Mykenes is less than one hour...more
Tolon beach is one of the nicer in the area, it is big, has fine golden sand and crystal clear water. It is also very organized, there are plenty of beach umbrellas and chair rentals, boat rentals and different water sport opportunities.During the peak season the beach can get quite crowded so better to go there early in the morning to be able to...more

We stopped here and had a burger before hopping on the ferry to Poros. The guy was thrilled to see us and had just opened that week. We each 4 of us had a cheese burger and It was delicious everything was fresh and inside was spotlessly clean. When we went inside to pay the lady spoke to our girls and gave us each a piece of her home made apple and...more
The restaurant have a little dining area on the water covered by umbrella and a wider area in front of the building covered by a green and refreshing pergola. The owner speak english and is really nice and helpful. The menu selection is not wide but their specialty is fresh fish. The owner took me to the kitchen to show me the different fish they...more
While at the beach in Vivari we saw this nice looking restaurant a little over the beach. The night after we decided to try it and it turned out to be good.It have a nice dining area on the top of the rocks over the beach, light blue chair and plants. The menu selection was good, we were not very hungry so we ordered only some small appetizer and...more
This restaurant is right on the village beach. You can literally eat with your feet on the sand listening to the waves and looking at the little fish eating the piece of bread you throw them.It is a basic greek place, the menu have the usual selection of grilled meat, fish and few more stuff. The waiter speak a elementary english. We ordered...more
We were attracted by this restaurant on the seafront because it look really nice and romantic. There are tables on a pier with candlelight etc.The menu has a good selection of greek traditional food, not different from any other, the waiters were friendly and spoke a good english. What really disappointed us was the food. The stuffed tomatoes I had...more
My dear friend Anna (Anpe) took us to this restaurant our first night in Tolon, the food was amazingly good, fresh and tasty and we loved it so much we went back several time. The restaurant is very basic, they have maybe 30 tables under a awning, there are fan during the hot days of summer to keep customers cool. The food is simply presented but it...more
The best bar in Tolon! You really feel welcome in this place. Prices are pretty cheap and this bar has a large selection of beers ( both greek and foreign) and it also has some very special drinks, which you can not have in other bars. Just ask Nikolas!
We drove from Athens down to Tolon which is in the eastern Peloponese known as the Argolis region. On the way we came to the Corinth Canal and made a stop to let the granddaughters and us too of course see it. Well we were so glad as it truly is a show stopper. The girls were a bit scared on the bridge but not as much as Gran who just decided to...more

As you travel throughout Greece, it is very very likely you will see in every soveniourshoppe those nude Greek statues of various Gods and Mythologyical figures. And surely you will be thinking ? this would be a great gift for so and so...Well, sure you are right. A very orginal and very Greek gift idea.
But my tip here is: While in many of the others cities, example Athens the price for even the smallest statues are outragous, I found here it was reasonablly priced and the selection was larger.
I suppose the danger here is not for the traveller but for the kittens. We saw 2 dead in the area of our hotel , Please look out for them as they are of course not only in Tolo but all over Greece!
After visiting Epidavros we continued east until we reached the road that would take us south to Galatas. The drive down was wonderful beautiful views out to sea, the Methana peninsula,(one to visit without children), a lovely way to see more of the peloponnese. Galatas was a nice town we were so glad to get there after the hot drive and found a...more
My guide book took me here as otherwise I doubt if we would have heard or been told about this village. The village lies 3 k south west of the town of Argos, Here the vegetation is lush and green due mainly to the River Erasinos which flows through the village and forms a picturesque lake. There are 2 caves just above the lake and these were said...more
I don´t know what the story behind the bell tower in Tolo is, but it´s certainly a very odd construction.
It looks more like a sattelite reciever than a ball tower, but it is standing there right next to a very pretty traditional greek orthodoks church and i guess it serves it´s purpose.
