by boltonian

The Delphini!!!!!! There are various boat tours round the island. The worst is the Delphini. It is slightly cheaper but pay the extra couple of quid for a better trip. The boat is slow, smelly, and dirty. The food is awful and the comentary is un audiable.

by ninaki2000

Beware of the fur shop sales people. They will offer you some ouzo and they will show you a good time with all their charm, just to lure you into buying a fur. They make a lot of money if they sell a lot of furs, so you can't really blame them for trying. Some are very good sales people, most of them know their way around in any language that comes their way. I know, I worked in a fur shop once. They are pretty sneaky there.

by cyberfish

Restaurants that do not display the prices on the menus. Don't be embaraced to exit such establishments or you could be lighter by a few hundred dolars at the end of your dinner ;)>>Taxi drivers that would take you around the city for a ride when you are only traveling a few blocks. Ask a local how much you should expect to pay, and if possible ride with a local that goes your general direction (taxis are allowed to take more than one passenger if the general direction is the same, and they charge full fair to every one.) If you enter a taxi that already have someone in it, note the meter and write down the amount. Only pay your part of the fair even if the driver throws a fit--which he will :)>>Avoid the short 1 day cruises around the Saronic gulf (Hydra, Poros, Aigina). The cruise is not all that great, and you don't get to spend enought time at each port. Instead, hop one...

I was unhappy at the Acropolis; it seemed literally overrun with tourists from all the world. In fact the stones around the temple were slippery from the millions of sandals wearing them down! I couldn't get a good picture, and the real art has all been removed to London (which is another story!) I was most impressed by the Acropolis from my pension window, as it glowed in the twilight, hazy in the incredible Athenian pollution...far worse than Mexico City.

by stijn_swinne

Those Greeks sell you anything, they'll drag you in their restaurants and you will their best friend. They'll laugh, they'll joke,... until they present you the bill of drinking too much Ouzo... Makes your head break.

by Mark_Purdue

Just be careful of the taxi drivers. I have never come across such arogant, rude people before. They can be extremely abusive and violent, whether you are male or female. Some will refuse to take you on short trips and many of those who do will just charge you crazy prices. Set your price before going anywhere.

by Mark_Purdue

One of the biggest problem to face Greece is the influx of Albanian gypsies. They send the children onto the streets to beg. In central Athens this can really be a pain as you get no peace to sit in the coffee shops or in street restaurants. The police seem oblivious to what is going on and only take action when they really feel like it.

by kat1400

THE RED BEACH, SANTORINI - I don't know if this is a total waste of time, but I would never go again. Its a nice beach, and I'm glad I saw it, but when you compare it to other, much more beautiful beaches in Greece, its hard to understand why there is so much hype about it. There are much nicer, less crowded and easily accesible beaches elsewhere on Santorini. Everyone we talked to was also dissapointed in it. Also the climb down to it was very diffulcult.
