Getting around the greek islands is quite easy. The ferry system is very well developed and you can hop from one island to the other very easily. These days you have both small high speed ferries aswell as big car ferries, so you can travel there with your car if you have one or get around the islands faster if you travel just with your luggage and rely on public transport.

You find the yellow taxis in the capital city of Greece: Athens and the blue Taxis in the second largest city in Greece: Thessaloniki. In the other cities the Taxis have different color.

From Delphi take a bus to Athens. Hire a car from there, as the trips to Pelopponese work out more expensive by bus! Not to mention the time-keeping involved when using buses!Even after factoring in tolls (some routes require nominal amounts - especially from the airport towards Argos; you take another route returning from Epidavros & Corinth with no tolls) & fuel, I still found a car more cost-effective & definitely far more flexible!! In my experience, rates are better at the airport! So, if you are interested in Athens National Museum, that's near the bus stop for Delphi. Then make your way to Omonia & a ticket for 2 to the airport 10E (indiv = 6E!). Hire a car, and drive around - through the villages to Argos, do Nafplio, Tripoli, Olympia, then return to Mycenae & Loutraki (Corinth Canal) & back to Athens, via Cape Sounio (as an example 1 person's 1-way bus ticket to Sounio from...

I went to Greece with Contiki Holidays and it was absolutely stunning. The best trip of my life I have to say. One of the most memorable days was when a bunch of us rented a jeep for the day and all piled it and drove from beach to beach to winery to beach all day in Santorini. It was exquisite. Easy to drive and no traffic, we were on tiny back roads most of the day, I don't even remember seeing other cars!
The metro line 3 connects to the city (though 5:30 - 24:00). Jouney time to Syntagma is 30 mins (fare is 6EUR), to Piraeus is 60 mins. Taxis are reasonably priced. You can get good boarding in the Plaka or Syntagma area, offering good views of the Acropolis. After visiting Athens, make sure you visit the Acropolis exhibits in the British Museum in London (if you haven't already done so). The Elgin marbles & the videos in the small room with scaled models of the Parthenon are superb, and help you make sense of the whole structure.
Since January 2009, Greece counts with a third local air carrier. The name of the new airline is: ATHENS AIRWAYS.For the time being, it flies only within Greece and covers the most of the major domestic destinations (14 ones to be precise), but the plans of Athens Airways are quite ambitious and I suppose in some years, they will be flying to many more Greek destinations, even to some abroad ones! The airline possesses 5 small planes of 50 seats.Flying with Athens Airways is like flying with your family! The service is excellent and the trip is quite pleasant, even though you are travelling in a small plane! Due to the short distances, do not expect luxuries and similar extravagant things! There is a frequent flyer programme and all the passengers are offered their bilingual magazine (Greek/English), called: Anemos (Greek for Wind). You can not compare it to the two other "Greek airgiants"...
The easiest way to get from Katakolon to Olympia from a cruise ship is the train. Cheap and easy.Walk thru Katakolon and just out of town is the train stop. The train is the way to go. The cost was 1 euro each way in 2007 versus the cab at 40 - 60m euros each way. Here is the schedule:http://www.olympia-greece.org/katakolon-train-bus.html
