High Street: Everyone seems to be here

This is apparently a big shopping area in Guernsey as everyone in town seems to be on this street. It is lined with shops of all kinds - everything from Woolworth's to Marks & Spencer. I did not pay too much attention as I am not a shopper, but there were clothing, jewelry, perfume, leather goods, shoes, etc. all along the street and tons of people. Since Guernsey occupies a unique spot in the UK (some say they are not even part of it), there seems to be a distinct tax advantage to shopping here. Apparently their goods are all VAT free which makes a big difference in the price.

The local beer wasn`t up to much, thankfully we remember to stock up with rum at the airport. Well, i remembered to stock up with rum, Sophie remembered i had stocked up with rum and on the way home i had to stock up with rum again, ho hum.

Perfume Dreams

Perfume/jewelery are cheap here, good choice as well.The flowers as most peaple know are always beautiful and a very good selection. You can also order for delivery to most place at home.When staying there fish is a good buy and good selection. Varies, look around for best prices

Market: Saturday shopping

The meat market isn't anything like as good as it used to be, for most of the meat is either English or foreign; so I cut through to the vegetables, fruit and flower market, and then for a minute I thought I was really back in the old days. It was so lovely it hit you. The only difference was there wasn't the old Guernsey women in scoops and full dresses; but the early flowers and the fresh fruit was there, and the scent and the bright colours. I thought well, here at least is something the visitors won't see nowhere else as good.
