    A wedding custom

by Sirvictor Written Sep 1, 2009

Over the green hills of Balaton there is a black stone which many Hungarians believe that the young couples who wants to marry and be happy just sit on the stone turning their backs to Balaton. They believe that their wish will be realized.

We have here in Turkey in Istanbul on the green hills of Sariyer at Bosphorus mouth to Black Sea also a holy place called "Telli Baba" Telli Baba was a Bektashi Dervish who helped those poor couples who wants to marry. Still today many bachelors visit his grave and wish to marry a beautiful girl. After the wedding ceremony the couple lays thin silvery wedding stripes from the brides wedding dress.

I poor dervish also once prayed for a happy wedding which helped me to find my lovely wife. :))

If you want to be married

    ......chiseled into the side
    1 more image

For the short time you will not be eating, drinking in Badacsony, and the food has settled already, venture to the lookout tower at the apex of the hill.
If you need, you may rest at the notorious basalt block called Rose Stone (Rozsako), which can be found halfway along the road running up onto the Badacsony mountain in the rest above the Kisfaludy house; a dangerous place for all, apart from the romantically inclined.
From the mountainside cracked basalt trunk presumably received its name from Róza Szegedy, the wife of Sándor Kisfaludy, the illustrious poet of the 19th century, who sat on it with pleasure, taking delight in the panorama of the Lake; that chiseled into the side of the rock.
The popular belief gave an important role to the stone afterwards: according to the tradition, there will be fiancees in that year yet if a boy and a girl sit down onto it turning their back on Balaton. Indeed, it is enough, if only the girl sighing for her darling sits on it, their love is fulfilled in this case too.

A hungarian speciality - The "Lángos"

by csordila Updated Nov 18, 2008

    Lngos
    1 more image

Most of the families with children stay whole day on the beach in heatwaves . A pleasant little place on the coast of the water under a tree what else must have been. If you became hungry or thirsty, the coastal buffets' offer will make you satisfied: baked fish, roast sausage, fried dough, cooked corn, candyfloss, pancake, cold beer, icecream, etc.

The very popular fried dough with sour cream and cheese, in hungarian "lángos" is a hungarian speciality, actually it is a "pre-product" of bread.
Langos and bread are made from the same dough. But the Langos can be deep-fried or baked in the oven!
The mixture has to make exactly the same way how the bread maker recipe book says to.
When the mixture is ready, cut them, the same way you cut for the buns. When the dough has risen, flatten them with a rolling pin, stretch them, and deep-fry in hot oil, until a light yellow color. When you stretch, where it is thin that part will be crispy, where it is thicker, it will be soft and fluffy.
It's delicious rubbed with raw garlic and sprinkled with salt or dressed up with sour cream and dill or a grating of emmethaler or trapist cheese. Its cheap and very fattening!
