The soup was great spinach, garlic and cream . After the soup I expected everything to be as good, WRONG !
The gruyere turkey dish is deep, deep fried and very greasy with the taste of old rancid oil. My friend ordered another dish which was also greasy and tasted of rancid oil
My friend ordered bottled water and I asked if the tap water with ice was safe and clean to drink. The server said yes so i got a small carafe of tap water with ice. When the check came, he charged me for tap water with ice !
I didnt say anything but I thought that was very tacky ! The potato donuts are deep fried , greasy and awful
If you want your arteries clogged, eat here ...it's a fried food nightmare
Favorite Dish: spinach, cream, garlic soup (it has cheese too)
I wouldnt order anything else. All the fried food tastes like old , rancid oil

Who wants to eat good and cheap should visit the buffets of the harbour in Balatonföldvár, where it is possible to choose from the most various foods.
Favorite Dish: I would call attention to three places especially:
The hamburger shop is open around the clock , so there is no trouble if you get hungry after a party late in the night,
The waffle , diverse delicate waffles are baked and real raspberry syrup is sold, with real raspberry pieces.
"Cuki" cake shop, located on Gábor Áron street. The Surprise de Somló fantastic, very delicate their strudels and the water ice is made of real fruit.

The "Cuki" confectionery is a fantastic cake shop standing opposite the primary school. The Surprise de Somló fantastic. Very delicate their strudels or the water ice cream being made of the real fruit which can be got on few places already today.
Favorite Dish: More of my acquaintances traveling through the city told me, they always stop here to eat only a Surprise de Somló.
Balatonföldvár lies just several hundred meters from the outskirt of Balatonszarszo in eastern direction and it is totaly assembled with its eastern neighbour Szantod.

The family owned restaurant is open from the spring to the autumn and yery popular among tourists. The staff consists mainly from family members. It features a brasserie, a garden restaurant and a panorama terrace too.
One of the famous dishes is the Bacchus slice, a sizable grilled pork chop, loaded with the home-made letcho, mushroom and sugar-pea. The cabbage-soup with pork-trotters and pork crackling scones is also a speciality of the house.
Generally the restaurant serves the home-style flavours of the traditional Hungarian cuisine.
The Wine-Cave in the cellar sells Hungarian bottled wines and lets guests taste them.
Favorite Dish: Wine-tasting with the help of somelier, and the happy vintage in September.

Most of the families with children stay whole day on the beach in heatwaves . A pleasant little place on the coast of the water under a tree what else must have been. If you became hungry or thirsty, the coastal buffets' offer will make you satisfied: baked fish, roast sausage, fried dough, cooked corn, candyfloss, pancake, cold beer, icecream, etc.
Favorite Dish: The very popular fried dough with sour cream and cheese, in hungarian "lángos" is a hungarian speciality, actually it is a "pre-product" of bread.

The part of the Balaton hospitality are the tasty food and wine. The foods are very diverse. The lake with diverse fish, the area's forests with the games, the gardens with the fruits with distinguished flavour contribute to the good flavours. The hard-working vine-dressers, who put the famous Balaton wines onto our table, crown the cooks' work.
All these complement the summer holidays beside the lake harmonically
Favorite Dish: Among the foods of the lake the fish are the first ones , among them the king, the Balaton pike-perch, which is roasted in one according to its classic completion manner. The Balaton fish soup deserves a separate reference between the fish meals.
From the huge forests, roe, deer, wild boar, from the spacious meadows though rabbit, pheasant, partridge reaches restaurants' table. To the famous foods of Balaton belong the Csáky charged grilled sirloin cutlet and the Jókai special bean soup.
The baked and cooked foods are excellent complemented by the fruits growing on the neighbourhood of Balaton. The cherry, sour cherry, the peach, the plum, the currant and the raspberry count as popular local fruit dessert. The essential attendant of the summer holidays is also the cooled watermelon.
But the lake provides not only famous foods. From the folk foods the fried dough ("lángos"), the pancake, the fruity strudels turned into the guests' constant favourites.

It's not a big menu, sometimes several things on the menu are not availlable anymore. Nevertheless, they serve pork meat, usually prepared with a slice of fat on top so the meat doesn't dry out due to grilling. They also use alot of garlic and paprika spices. Some local grilled fish like pike-perch is also delicious. It's cosy to sit, many space outside - when it's warm enough - also a band that plays the violin. There's a small playground for the kids and some small animals.
It's peacefull and quiet, highly recommended.
Favorite Dish: The filled mushrooms are delicious but not for everybody suitable as an entreé. Sometimes it's just too much combined with a main dish. Many dishes are prepared with garlic and they have wine of their own. Potatoes are served as vegetables and it's good to order your vegetables seperate because they usually don't come with the main dish. The menu changes many times, so it's hard to describe a favorite dish.

Cooked corn is a very typical summer/beach food here. It's best to get them from street vendors who usually produce the corn themselfs (look for old ladies selling it from baskets!), cook them at home and bring them fresh to the beach.
