The reference in Tokaj is apparently the restaurant on the main square. However some hungarians recommended us the restaurant of the Millenium hotel. True that the food there was as good and the price even cheaper...
Even more the restaurant was located in a circular room, not that common to see, crazy architects ;-)

It seems to be somehow nostalgic for the communist times. The food is not that great there, the staff is quite slow and not very helpful. Overall it's overpriced for the rather low food quality.
Favorite Dish: I've tried fisherman soup and then local fish dish. Both have been acceptable but nothing more. I'd rather not try it again.

From outside, it may look like a poch restaurant but don't be scared by that... True that the service is very good but the customers are about average...
The food is quite good and the price very low (if you compare them to budapest).
This is probably one of the best place to eat in Tokaj...

Address: Kossuth tér,1
This restaurant belongs to the (not too fancy, two star) Hotel Tokaj. Though usually hotel restaurants aren't the best choice, it is indeed here. While other restarants in Tokaj advertise theirself as "Fishsoup restaurant" or "best soup of Tokaj" do not be fooled, this is the place to go.
If you afraid of fishbones take soup with catfish (harcsa). Also you can find other dishes of fish or other typical Hungarian dishes.
The design of the place is quite basic, but the taste of food will compensate this, and pricing also follows design.
Favorite Dish: Harcsa or Ponty Halaszle (Fish soup made from catfish) + Turos Csusza (curdy pastry)
This is THE dish you eat in a Hungarian fish restaurant.
