I can talk about Ferigehy 1st . My Skyeurope flight took off from this airport closer to the city than not Ferigehy 2nd. This is like a matchbox but nice at the same time with a nice hall with two floors and all the services that can offer an airport, a small one!! lol
it was a pittyfull day..was my last there after excellent experiences around the eastern nice people i met ..with some of them i keep on touch thats great! ..

How to get the airport...the point is wherever you being in Budapest look for the blue line direction Kobánya-Kispest...get off in this station and follow wak in the same wagon direction ..then go up some stairs and turn right..walk straight for that corridor till the end and finally outside turn right and look ahead..there will be so much people with backpacks and cases waiting for the bus..the fee is 200 HUFand runs to Ferigehy 1-2...you can see the stops in a display screen so its easy for the tourist
Here some maps of the Budpest subway network

Having been a life long promoter of full service Schedule airlines this was my first break into the no frills market and I was reasonably impressed, well at least in the outbound flight.
Having breezed through check in at Manchesters terminal one I enjoyed a on time departure bound for Budapest. The seats are all leather and quite comfortable although a little stingy for leg room. The refreshments on board were no overly priced and I enjoyed a beer at 30.000 feet as I gazed out at the serenity of the clouds. As nice as this was my peace and quiet was interupted on numerous ocasions by cabin anouncments on how to find the cheapest fare by using their fare finder facility on the web.
The return flight was some what a debackle, with massive queues at check in for a flight that had'nt even being allocated a desk until one hour prior to its schedule departure. This caused a rush to pass through passport control. The inbound flight was fairly similar to the outbound and although the flight departed Budapest late by ten miniutes we soon made this upin the air and landed on schedule back in Manchester.
Over all view of no frills; Is worth looking into if full service airlines are not available or not compariable against no frills.

Malev Hungarian Airlines is the national carrier of Hungary. It connects the major towns in Europe woth Budapest with no stop fly. The service is good. In these few mounths it started to change it's airplane with new ones like Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 767-300. This last it is used to fly from Budapest to New York.

When I was arriving in Budapest at the airport in April 2005 is was supprised. We deboarded at the Terminal 2B of the Ferihegy Airport. Tis termial looks like new build; very clean, tidy and bright. The arrival area as well as the departure area. The important signs are very easy to read and give clear directions.
There are also spectator terasses on terminal 2B and 2A. You have to pay HUF 250 per Person and they check your luggage. From the spotters place you have a wonderful overwiew of the airport!

There's a lot of charter flights to Budapest (like EasyJet & many more) & it's reasonably easy to get to the airport's 2 terminals (T2 being the international one). You can either take the Airport Minibus or the M3 Metro line to Köbánya Kispest & then the Airport bus (costs 9€) or bus no. 93 to the Airport.
More info here & here.

Budapest has a very nice and small airport. There is an A and a B, quite close to each other. The distances are short, so if you ever have to run (like I had to) then you don't have to run very long. There are a few shops where you can buy stuff without taxes! And although they still have the Hungarian forint, they also accept euro's. Very handy!
In short, lovely little airport where you can wiat a while til your plane takes off. See ya around!

The Europena Union has created a set of rights to ensure air passengers are treated fairly.
The airline operating your flight is responsible for transporting you and your baggage and must respect your rights.
Denied boarding / Cancelled Flight / Long delays / Baggage / Injury / Package holiday
First step: ask the representative of the airline operating your flight to deal with your probelm.
Second step: If you are affected by denied boarding, a cancellation or a long delay and the opreating airline doesnt fulfil their obligations, then you should complain to the relevant national enforcement body.
If your flight departs form an EU country, complain there. If you are travelling from outside to the EU, and your flight is operated by an EU airline, complain in the EU counrty where it lands.
For the name and address of the relevant authority, or details of organisations which can advise or help with other complaints (eg baggage, injury...) contact the EU DIRECT phone 00 800 6 7 8 9 10 11 or email mail@europe-direct.cec.eu.int
