    Hossok Tere or Heroes square

Favorite thing: I visit it on my second stage in BUDAPEST. It was a pouring day. the rain wasnt so hard to disturb my visit...The former kings and important tribal leaders of Hungary are over a huge and long pedestal in hardened beahviour..equestrian statues are the most beautiful and impressive.

The monument was constructed to honour the millennial aniversary (1896)of the Magyar conquest of the Carpathian basin

One of the most beautiful points is that the long Avenue that runs to the square (Andrassy Utza) ..its for me the most beautiful street in the city plenty of great buildings, theatres, museums , its quite alike to Passeig de Gracia avenue in Barcelona..really nice

    Square and Embassy

    Serbian house

Favorite thing: At the beautiful place in city, across the Heroes Square and at the end of famous Andrassy Avenue is not so beautiful but noticeable grand house with huge flag of Serbia. That is popular "Serbian house" (unofficial name for us tourist from south). In that place now is Embassy of Republic of Serbia.

Fondest memory: An interesting story is that Serbia received the embassy building in Budapest. I heard this story from our tour guide. Namely, our Jovan Ducic (Serb from Herzegovina), famous poet and diplomat was in Budapest some time. In that time he was fall in love with a Hungarian countess and dedicated to her a two verses. And that nameless nobles lady falls in love with him and give him a special present - the whole building.

    Monument at Hsk tere

Favorite thing: Big square in Pest side, near City Park.

Fondest memory: There is a monument made as a semi-shpere with suatues of the Hungarian kings.
In the very centre there is a big column with an eagle on the top and the statue of Hunns' leader Atilla on the horse.

  • Once you decide to come to...

Favorite thing: Once you decide to come to Budapest you must have a walk on the Royal Castle Hill. Walk in the narrow streets, among few hundred years old houses, walk into the small internal gardens (pazio), and take pictures from Fisher Bastion. Do not forget to visit the wonderful gothic church named after King Matyas.

Fondest memory: In a November evening when it was already snowy, we drove to the huge Heroes Square, where the sculptures of the Hungarian Royalities are standing. The night was a chilly and foggy, and the site was still majestic (see picture). My guests from CA were amazing the square. We finished the day with some glass of wine and tasty Hungarian food (sausage, bread, hot pepper) in my home.
