Cafe Zenit at the Sinagouge, at Dohany utca (Budapest's pub area).
In Cafe Zenit you can taste coffees from all around the world - Java, Colombia, Mexico, Sumatra, Bolivia etc.
Bar looks like a ship.
Internet access.

Jazz Garden was a great experience. Service was quick and attentive (the best by far during my time here in Budapest), the musical act was wonderful, and the whole place had a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend this if you are into jazz. Cover charge 800 fts.

Dress Code: None special observed.

Jazz Garden's entrance

Jazz Garden is a unique place in the center of Budapest. It offers good food (not cheap though...), live (excellent!) jazz concerts and a very good atmosphere.

The ceiling is like the sky with stars, so in winter the place is also good for some "summer night therapy" :)

It also has a garden in summer.

Dress Code: Be "jazzy", whatever this means to you :)
(You will see people in tie, but also others in jeans, so don't worry :)

Jazz Club

Great jazz club. We arrived about 11pm, no entance fee got a table right in front of the stage vacated by someone going for an early night I guess (there were one or two free tables but whether this would be the case in prime season - we went Nov 2004). Jazz fantastic (second show started just after we sat down) and once finished they started mixing the instruments they were playing on (sax triggered it by starting to play piano). Bill for a couple of beers and cokes came to about a thousand HUF (can't remember exact amount but less than £10 - BARGAIN).

Dress Code: generally people were tidy

An unexpected entrance fee (800ft) may have dampened our feelings about this bar before we sat down but we were soon to realise just how cool it was. And cool is the only word to describe it.
Although it doesnt really look very garden like, the surrounding walls with vines and flowers on it do add greatly to general atmosphere.
Somewhat intimidating are the little clique of regulars sitting in the corner, obviously recognising the newcomer tourists -us.
The music was excellent, jazzy and exciting and being played by absolutlely normal looking -if even a bit nerdy- guys. A very fun night out. Not to be forgotten.

We were blown away by the quality of the amateur musicians who performed at the Mon. "jam session". Outstanding jazz of the fusion type rather than traditional. Get there at 9 when they begin or you won't get a seat. We had dinner which was also good. Recommend cream of garlic soup.
