 | Budapest Off the Beaten Path | Tips 431 - 439 of 439 | | Popular Off the Beaten Path | Other Off the Beaten Path Tips | All Tips (439) Within the walls of the Citadella, a 19th century fort that formed the hub of the Nazi positions during the siege of Budapest (see other tips) stands a small hotel. Whilst nothing special as a hotel, I believe it is considered a good budget choice. More to the point here, the walls are decorated (if that is the right word) with photographs and works of art relating to the horrors of war & conflict. I found the display very moving, and worth seeing, especially the drawings from African children in the lobby area, Leave a Comment Phone: (Tel: 1/466-5794

You must go only a few steps from the old city hall to rich the classical palace of the County hall. It was built in 2 phases: the first part was raised by József Hofrichter between 1829 and 1832, while the second part, wich was built among 1838 and 1841 is Mátyás Zitterbarth`s work. Unlike the Old city hall, it was built originally to a County hall. The most beautiful parts are the frontal facade, the audience hall and the classical inner court.

midafternoon concerts, free for the general public, taking place about three times a week. CDs are very inexpensive at the school shop, with a long-running special on Hungaroton recordings of Liszt, Bartok and others. The academy is closed during July and August, and concerts take place irregularly during that period, so it is best to call and check ahead of time Leave a Comment
