Dionysos Taverna: Greek touch in Budapest

    Nice ambiance

This greek taverna serves Greek and Mediterrenean specialties as well as grills from all types of meat. They have a friendly service and the decoration is based on Greek Taverna concept. The platters are served with a small greek flag on a toothpick. The food quality is not excellent, but good enough. The prices are a little bit expensive. But still it is worth a try.

Dionysos Taverna: Authentic Greek food in Budapest

Dionysos Taverna serves the most authentic Greek food in Budapest! I come to this restaurant for every special occasion since the food, atmosphere, and service are all excellent. When you come to this restaurant, you feel like you are in Greece. The portions are pretty generous. The best appetizers are the tzatziki with bread, dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), and spanakopita (spinach pie). Gyros, souvlaki, and other barbequed meats are delicious. The fish dishes here are plentiful...shrimp, mussels, sole, octopus, salmon, calamari, sea bass, and cod are all on the menu. Vegetarian dishes and salad are also available. For dessert, galaktoboureko or kadaifi is a must. At the end of the meal, you can sample some Metaxa, or Greek brandy. The fact that the inside of the restaurant looks like a Greek island and they constantly play Greek music really perfects the atmosphere. The service is extremely good here... they are known to bring you a FREE, smaller appetizer or dessert if you don't order one at all. Overall, I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes really good Mediterranean food and is really hungry. :)

Favorite Dish: I can't choose just one dish to recommend, so I can suggest a few. You must try the mousaka, horiatiko bifteki (Greek hamburger), or dolmades. To drink, I suggest Retsina, a dry white Greek wine. If I could only order one thing at this restaurant, I would definitely order the mousaka. It is served to you in a hot earthenware pot with plenty of bubbling, melted cheese, meat, and bechamel sauce. :))

Dionysos Taverna: My favorite restaurant in town.

by attilaalgan Written May 30, 2008

A very good restaurant in a very nice location. In summer you can sit outside by the Danube view but a reservation is a must for a table out. The music is splendid and the food is delicious. The Greek salad, feta saganaki and the chicken saganaki with rice are simply delicious. I simply loved that place. Call, have a reservation, sit outside, order a bunch of mezethes and some wine, share and enjoy!

Favorite Dish: Greek salad, feta saganaki and the chicken saganaki with rice are my favourite.

    Great Greek Food.

Favorite Dish: Gyros. I'm a sucker for gyros. But we sampled many dishes. Everthing was so good. It was quite empty at 1400 on a Friday. But we left full.
