    Nagyi Palacsintazoja: Delicious stuffed pancakes

This pancake place is a very good alternative for lunch or dinner. They serve pancakes with a whole range of different kinds of stuffing: chicken stew, spinach, chocolate, ham & cheese, ... . They taste very good and 4 or 5 are good for a full meal. For about 1500 forint you can eat here with 2 people, drinks included.

    According to our B&B-host it's open 24/24.

Favorite Dish: Pancake with Hungarian stew.

Fast food - hungarian style. Pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes. Sweet pancakes, savoury pancakes and pancakes stuffed with pancakes. There's a few of them around Budapest, but the one on Batthyany Ter has great views out over the Parliament from the exterior seats.

It's great value, but very heavy and filling, like all Hungarian food. The savoury pancakes could really use some fresh salad to lighten the palate, but that is anathema to Hungarian cooking. Just mix them up as much as you can and add a sweet one to the end of the meal.

They have an English menu, but if you can fathom what "Mexican meat" is, let me know. I assume the Hungarians are at a loss also, as that is the direct translation.

Nagyi Palacsintazoja - Granny's Pancake Restaurant: Granny was having a face lift outside

All sorts of various 'Palacsinta', (CREPES) I think they have
more sorts of sweet and savourary palacsinta than
any place I have visited since my 10 year stay in Budapest.
It's location is great being on the square on the other side of the
Danube opposite the parliment, so you have a great view if
the traffic fumes don't bug you.
    Open all day and night.
Tasty but a little more pricey than usual
palacsinta places, but still cheap for tourists.
Can be a bit of a queue sometimes!
Nice to grab a table outside and enjoy the view.
    There's a big market/mall/supermarket next door too.

    Favorite Dish:
I like the savoury palacsinta with
    cheese and meat.
    Lots to choose from

The local version of pancakes called Palacsinta and i heard one of the best places to eat Palacsinta is in this restaurant.

when you enter the restaurant you will probably see a lot of locals and also tourists stand i a long line.
The line is very quick and the food is very tasty and cheap.

You can choose from a big selection of sweet and savoury pancakes.

Favorite Dish: The Palacsinta with sour cream and cheese was good and also the one with musrooms , the baked potato with sour cream and cheese was good too.

Their version of Iced coffee is hot cofee with ice cream , cold milk and whipped cream on top is also very tasty.

The Palacinta (one) cost something like 200 Forint (1 Euro) and also the baked potato.
The iced coffee cost 500 Forint (2 euro)

Nagyi Palacsintazoja - Granny's Pancake Restaurant: Non-Stop Delicious Pancakes

Have a look at danbp's tip about this restaurant! It is located just the other side of the square at Batthyany Ter metro station on the red line. There is a lovely view across to the Parliament building from the upper level of the cafe (mind the stairs and the low beams!) and it's a great place to stop and reflect on your way up to, or down from, Castle Hill. Everything seems to be reasonably priced and the service is very quick.

Favorite Dish: I also had a chestnut pancake and it was DELICIOUS!! If you don't have a sweet tooth, there are also savoury fillings available which seemed to be just as popular.

You will find several of these around Budapest. I ate at three different ones on the Buda side. Two in particular were the one at Batthany Square and one that was two blocks from Mammut Shopping center. Both were great, inexpensive, and tasted wonderful. I highly recommend it.

Nagyi Palacsintázója: Palacsintá like Granny used to make

Nagyi Palacsintázója or Granny's Pancakes is right on Batthyany ter. near the Red line metro station. I marked it as dessert, although they serve savory as well as sweet palacsintá. Pleasant casual ambiance. Like many cafes in older buildings there is a mezzanine level. There are several of these shops in Budapest.

    Favorite Dish: The one pictured:)

Nagyi Palacsintazoja - Granny's Pancake Restaurant: Light snack

by Odiseya Written Jan 25, 2015

I follow recomendation on VT and visit popular Pancake House on Buda embarkment. I find it very charming place situated on interesting Batthyany Square.

There was not overcrowded in time I visited place. It was very hot outside but inside was comfortable enough.

Favorite Dish: I eat pancake with chokolate siroup like I always order in my hometown. They had wide and divers offers of salty and sweet pancakes.
