    City park; dead, it's 6AM

City Park: Located behind Hero's Square, there are some of the famous baths located inside the grounds. The park itself is a little run down, dirty, etc. But it's still pretty nice to walk around the ponds and grass. There's a zoo bordering one side of the park as well (for the kiddies).

If you go to City Park or Heroes Square, don't make the mistake I made of getting off the M1 at the Kodaly Korund stop. There are about six other metro stops that'll drop you off closer to the Square than this stop. I had to walk the whole way though, and this is what the road looked like.

The large citypark not only functions as a park, a large Turkish Bathinghouse can be found here, the Heroes Square is the main entrance to the park with museums on both sides, and there's an island with some reconstructed buildings. You will find a Transylvanian Castle and an Austrian Palace for instance. Nice place to relax a bit and escape from the busy citylife.

    Chilling, playing or sightseeing

    by mean_green_leftovers Written Dec 22, 2004

I wish that I had discovered what this park had to offer when I first moved here. This is a large, beautiful park in the middle of Pest. It has a lot to offer for relaxing, sightseeing and recreation. There is a small castle, Hõsõk tér (Heroes' Square), two adjacent museums, Széchenyi Fürdő, etc... It is a very relaxing place to walk or sit and people watch. For those who are looking for a place to play, there are a few soccer fields and other courts which I could not identify (perhaps handball?) and also outdoor ping pong tables. In the autumn and winter there is ice skating in the Heroe's Square side. This opens well before the temperature drops below freezing.

Walk behind the Millennium Monument and you will be in Varosliget. Varosliget is a public city park with trees, ponds, and trails. A nice place to relax and take a walk, and there were also many joggers in the area. Other attractions at Varosliget include the Vajdahunyad Castle and Szechenyi Baths.

One of the best baths is located in the city park. Szechenyi baths has the usual outdoor pools and indoor pools set at varying temperatures. You can relax and play chess or stand underneath the water fountains to receive a sort of massage.

    The city Park

The only thing I did in Budapest, was wandering around and enjoying the Budapest City-life. But do check out the citypark, a lot of green, quietness, famous baths and a wonderful pub next to the water.
In front of it, some bycicle acrobatics

The city park houses the Museum of Agriculture, two lakes, a skating rink and thermal baths. It is a large piece of park and even at night it is briming with activity.

The Ice Rink and Vajdahunyad Castle

In winter, you can go ice skating in the City Park, with the beautiful Vajdahunyad Castle in the background.

Another great park, located at the end of Andrassy Street. There are some historic buildings, museums and a thermal bath within the park.

In the middle of the park is the lake, which becomes a picturesque setting for ice-skating in the winter and is a great place to rent a boat and enjoy a fine summer day.
